Ok, so I got really annoyed at my Asus board for not being overclock friendly and because it couldn't get my 146 to 3Ghz, so I went an bought a DFI Ultra-D. Flashed it to the 704-2BTA BIOS (Big Toe's?).

With my Asus I could boot into Windows for an SS at 2.98Ghz (10 x 298), but this DFI won't even get past "Verifying DMO Pool" at much over 270Mhz HTT?! What the hell am I doing wrong, because every man and his dog use this board and seem to be having better luck than me!

Done all the usual stuff (VCore up to 1.55V, LDT to 3x, RAM at 133 slack timings, VLDT to 1.3V, VChipset to 1.6V).

Please help!

Thanks,

turn up the LDT and chipset voltages, just max them out and see what happens.

It's memory settings. DFI boards are very picky. You change one little setting and the board doesn't even get into windows anymore. You have to play around with the mem settings for a while. My Venice 3000+ was 24 hr prime stable at 2.7ghz but sometimes it would not even get past that DMI pool screen. It was not until I tweaked some mem settings that everything worked fine.

yea check your read to write delay and your write to read delay (think that's it)

I think your max async latency, read preamble time and dram response time are not set properly. Do a search in the opteron thread to see what values you should use for your specific core.

ifoundnemo and Deus Falsus: One of you guys is right! I put TRWD and TWRD up to max latency, and aldo increased the max async latency and now it boots at 3Ghz with the RAM 133 at 2.5-3-3-6-1T :D thanks! Still not sure what the optimal settings for these values are though... could you guys tell me what you run yours at?

Thanks,

Suman

It looks like the PCB was designed by a circus clown, and the BIOS was created by the largest uber dork ever...

...BUT, it seems to be able to get to 300HTT perfectly stable and at the end of the day that's what matters! :D

the dfi is not as easy as simply turning a few value up!! the memory setting alone can impact overall stability big time, one wrong value all bet is off so do your research and see what other people are setting so you can get a reference to start from there. then there's psu and a bunch of other factors, you need to learn how to overclock properly or stick with that Asus or Abit of yours and be done with it.

I have the exact same problem, only I don't get mine over 238FSB and my DMI pool data finishes with no problem. I get through the windows loading screen and after that, it goes black. It works with LTD:238 but If I turn just over to 239 it wont boot.I tried to get the settings with my memory but can't get it working. I have Corsair VS 512 PC3200 and original bios on my DFI NF3 Ultra-D. Would it help with flashing the bios? I also have a Aspire 520W PSU and all the time until I read this thread I thought it was the big problem but now I wonder if it's the memory settings!? It couldn't be my opteron that only clock to 2147MHz? Because it's stable all the way until I cross the 239FSB. PLZ HELP with suggestion of ram settings and etc!?
