Or are there any? I keep seeing people saying "xxxx has the (some stepping) for $xxx", but I cant seem to find those places.
I'm going to be buying parts for new system soon. Seems like either the X2 4400 or Opteron 175 will be what I get if someone can tell me which stepping I should get for best overclocking and where its at?
Thanks.

you mean steppings
Well I'd fix the title if I could. Didnt know steppings was all that much different from stepping, I usually dont keep up with that type of information in great detail, everything else I do pretty good.

Wouldn't it be great if they all did? :toast:
I haven't found any place, other than computersmsa in the forsale forum (which you need 100 post to access) and he only sells the single core optys that I know of, and is pretty limited to Europe.
But if somebody does know any place or anyone that does sell by steppings (preferrably in the US :) ) fill us in please. :toast:

If you want to know what stepping the e-tailer carries you usually have to contact them by phone or go into their store if they have one. That's how people find out. Otherwise you roll the dice and see what you get.

^ I've called Monarch, ZZF, and Ewiz, and they all say the same thing => "we have no way of checking the stepping". :stick:

compumusic is the only store to provide the exact steppings and even batch# of the cpu if requested.

I know digilink does but they charge an extra $50 per proc..
They will even let you pic the stepping if it is available.. but that costs extra
