My 3700+ SD is a POS when it comes to overclocking, it hits a brick wall at 2.7GHz, and I've tried up to 1.65v with it. I am seriously thinking of picking up a socket 939 Opteron 148 Venus, which has a stock speed of 2.2GHz and 1mb of L2 cache, basicly the same specs as the 3700, but I have heard they are monster overclockers. Do you guys think I should sell my 3700+ and pick up one of these opterons? Also, what is the step down model from the 148, and where can I buy it? I live in the USA. The 148 is a little pricy. Would I notice an OCing difference with the 148 and the step down model? Thanks.

There are also 144(1,8GHz, 9x mutliplier) and 146 (2GHz, 10x multiplier), I've also got a 3700+SD, I am thinking about it to replace it with a Opteron 165 (Dual Core, 1,8GHz, 9x mutliplier).

Arround 350 Euro I guess for the Opteron 165, btw it has 1MB cache/CPU, so it is a "Toledo"!

But how does it overclock? Is it the same insane overclocking that the 144s and 146s do? Whats the best stepping for the 165? Would I be able to call them up and ask them to send me a specific stepping? I don't want to get a 1.8G dual core setup and only have it overclock to like 2.2G for example.
