There are clips that u have to take off easily I think.

I used a sharp pointy tool similar to a dentist pick or an o-ring remover. Any way I pried up from the little openings underneath the clip it self. So I wedged the point between the the underside of the clip and the top of the memory module. Becarefull and do not apply presure using the memory moudle pcb, use the top surface of the heat spreader. Pry up carefully and it'll pop right off. After wards the heat spreader is a pain to pull off due to the double sided tape they use, some people use tooth floss others I actually used a screwdriver. Just be carefull is all.

First heat the modules by running some ~15mins memtest86@3,3v orsow.

Then take them out, remove the clips and you should be able to easily pop the heatspreaders of :)

If I were in your shoes m3csl2004, I would first get them to work without taking heatspreaders off. I have had 3 pairs of 2x256MB Mushkin LvL II. In 2 cases, I took heatspreaders off and gained nothing in terms of higher memory clocks. The pair I still keep is doing 278MHz 5-2-2-2.0 @ 3.8v in SPi32M, just like before taking HS off...

So, in other words, keep them on for now and see what you can get out of them ;)
