Has anyone had any negative experiences with Western Digital customer service?

Heres mine. My 36GB Raptor died on me about 3 weeks ago. I thought no big deal ill apply for an advance rma and have the replacement in a week.

Well i applied, was approved, and waited a week, then two, and now 3 weeks later i still dont have a drive. The status for my rma hasnt move from the first step since i applied.

Numerous emails later i finally got someone who actually seemed to care, where as the others just said to check the online status

The email said they were goin to fix the situation and get the drive out. That was a week ago, and still no drive.

Is it me or does anyone else think this is extremely poor service?

I have rma'ed 2 maxtors in the past and both arrive within a week. And a quick look at resellerratings.com shows that other people have had the same experience as me.

The older raptors are not available in abundance as I understand it, they are rebuilding a number and have a backlog

I kinda figured that, thats not really what is aggravating. Its the fact that i have recieved no communication from them. I would be fine with it if they just told me that, that way i would know they are doing everything they can.

oh well.

I confirmed this through third part service organizations....everyone is waiting for this part.. sorry about the lack of communication, that is definitely a corporate no no...

The only reason it doesnt bother me as much as it could is because i have a backup hdd, if i didnt i would be without a comp for a while unless i bought another drive. :(

Sorry for the lack of communication? do u work for them :p:

I've only had to rma with WD twice, but from my experience both were LONG processes. Both drives took over a month to come back to me from the day they arrived at wd. This was over 2 years ago though.

Yah i dont think ill be buying from them again, not so much cause i think thier drives are crap, just cause i dont want to have to deal with thier extremely poor customer service.

Still havent gotten a word on shipment of the drive.

And the funny thing is they just sent me a customer satisfaction questionaire that has a $10.00 of coupon on stuff over $150.00. LOL guess what kind of feedback i gave them.
