Hey guys, I cant do a single stage p/c sooo I decided to check out my other options before just plain water cooling :).
I was wondering what kind of temps could I get with a chilled liquid setup instead of just using the refridgerant lol.
Also lookin for what tools ill need, coolant choices, life expectancy, all sorts of good stuff :-D.
I got a fridge in my garage that im going to tear apart today and see whats up with the compressor and if its useable.
Hoping that chilled liquid ( im pretty sure it can form what ive been reading ) can get me atleast below 0C, which is all im really looking for.
Thanks guys :), if these questions are already answered just post me a link if its not to much trouble and ill do me some readin :toast:

It depends on how powerful the fridge is, really. I've seen typical water chillers pull the coolant down to -30/-40 or so, but that was with air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
You may also need to bear in mind that most fridges aren't designed for continuous duty operation. A fridge initially pulls down the temp inside to about 4C or so, and is well-insulated so that once that temperature is reached it will be maintained and the compressor may only need to run perhaps 10 minutes in every hour to keep it there. Running a fridge 24/7 might burn it out. This is why air conditioners are more popular, they're supposed to be kept on 24/7.

well then ill go to the dump and scavange :) but the only thing im concerened with is the tools part, like a vaccuum pump.
Because most of the things I can probably get like a torch and what not but my only problem is having to change refridgerants and stuff like you do with a ss.

I get the feeling you don't want to spend too much money. Asking for custom unit pricing than going off trying to build something than saying I don't want to get tools, etc.
I will tell you this. Buying custom unit is going to be much cheaper than building one.
In frame works of keeping things legal, even basic setup is going to cost you above $1k
(recovery machine -> requirement by law, recovery tank, gas, vacuum pump, manifold gauge, nitrogen tank, nitrogen regulator, some way to braze, evaporator, compressor, condenser, fans, filter drier)
That is if you can make unit as good as these custom units are too or have plan to build more in the way.
I suggest looking for used mach II gt or vapochill LS instead of going full route for now if your budget is constrained.
