The new chips will debut on NVIDIA's recently announced M2 platform, complete with MCP55 and C51XE. Straight from AMD's latest roadmap, here are a list of all the newest products, cores and launch dates:
LOL:
Update: Unfortunately we just went under NDA for the FX chip that is between FX-62 and FX-57 and ends in an even number that isn't 8. I had to remove that information, sorry.
NDA

that basically says by middle of Next year everything will be on M2..
yet somehow I wish that they spent even more time developing M2 and put it off to '07
939 still has plenty of breathing room left...

well if you think about it.. it is an even number between 57 and 62 but isn't 58...
So one could assume it is to be called FX 60

nice observation

So why did the NDA prevent them from saying it but it let them say it is less than 62 but not ending with an 8?
The logic escapes me...

nda for fx 62 hasnt started yet...
they sign a contract and the contract is date specific, they cannot not talk about something for a VERY specific amount of time.
edit - looking at the roadmap, looks like fx-60 will be dual core.
goodbye single core cpu's, RIP.

Well if we see socket m2 by next half of next year I still think it would be worthwile to wait until Q1 07 for the 65nm cpus for M2. Plus its always smart to wait a bit after the first m2 release because the better mobos start comming. The first set of mobos are always buggy and are lacking something. We observed this with the lack of pci locks in the early a64s. I know everyone wants to be a pioneer but IMHO its best to wait until bugs are ironed out and some really good cpus come out. Personally I always like to go and test the highend stuff and then use it for my 24/7 rig so I will have to control myself when first m2 cpus and mbs are out because in a few months something much better/less buggier will be out.

A new socket won't kill the old one....I expect (hope) that AMD will refresh the 939 line one or two more times (mm..65nm dual core)

socket A forever more like...
i was using my xp-m for the past three weeks, and aside from poor multitasking, it's feels almost as fast as my x2 3800.

My S754 is still fast but I am about to buy a FX-57 now and wait for the Expert. Still considering a X2 4800+ but I dont really multitask that much.

If the fx60 is 939 then the info leaked earlier in the week about it being a 2.66ghz 1m cache socket m2 part looks wrong. So 2.6 ghz 1M cache =fx60, and 512k cache version =5000+?

DDR2 should bring a 10% boost at most, comparing the jump from S753 to S939.

It said it was announced to use NVIDIA'S socket m2, so does that mean that there will be no socket M2 ATI boards?? Sorry if it is a retarded question.

My thoughts are that M2 will not come out until it is completely ready and that is what I want.. I can wait an extra year for M2 just start serving us some 65nm chips winchester style... Then when you are ready pull off another Venice.. I and infinately patient when it comes to sockets.. GPUs no but sockets can last years if designed right...

Agreed I want a less buggier M2. 2nd revision will stamp out all of the bugs and I plan to go highend as I do with all of my upgrades. Will wait for the m2 65nm.
