Nor sure if this is news or memory junk but here it is anyways.

You could've at least summarized what the article is about instead of just posting a link to god knows what.

sry to break the bubble but everyone here knows that. But this IS Xtremesystems. Where ppl break records almost everyday and push right upto limit and then some. Value ram just doesnt cut it here.

so this isn't really surprising.....
a memory at the same frequency with sharp timings of course beats a memory with loosen timings.

This is why im not buying more expensive ram than I need to for my gaming rig.

As long as I can get the MHZ I need for my CPU overclock im not too worried about timings.

Some applications ... 3dmark01 for example benefit hugely from tight timings.. as they are not GPU limited, and the FPS they run is insane.
Once you drop to 50-70fps due to GPU limitation memory bandwith seems less important.

tell that to hipro5, he still uses his kingston value pc2700

by value ram , i mean ram using elixir , mosel and so on for your ICs , not winbond utt / tccd / tcc5 and such. Even though i dont know what ram ICs are on his ram , im guessing they are Winbond series. That imho is L33t memory :D .

Well some of this is news to me. I would have never guessed that 2T is better off than a higher tRCD... 2T shows performance decrease in memory bandwidth benchmarks.

Now I am going to go for 2.5-3-3 at 2T.

of course it is winbond. but it's still value, ie cheap. cheap does not equal bad, ESPECIALLY in the overclocking world (even though everyone passes by the "value" overclocking these days)

geil value ram - £59, does 272mhz 2-2-2-5. (bh-5 utt obviously)

ValueRAM is GREAT.

wow, suprising results. especially in the real world tests.

VGA BOTTLENECK.........Run a WinRar bench with Cas 2-2-2-5 and again with Cas 2.5-4-4-8 and see what happens........."Fast" DDR chips have come to their end of life so promoting the Cas 6-8-8-35 latency chips, is a way to "forget" the fast chips out there(if any left) that they are not in production any more........IF THIS (in the article) is what is "real", then WHAT DO WE NEED the upcoming DDR3 and for AMD's the DDR2 technology......Let's stick with SDRAM guys!.....VGA BOTTLENECK....... ;)

Just my 2 Euros..... :D
