Yes, I think that X1800XT comes (will come) only in 512MB flavor.

Later it might be available in different flavours. All depending on what the 3rd party manufacturers decide.

i jest talk with a big distributor in israel and he say that he will have the 3dclub xt in the next week - in stock.
so i believe that we will see the xt in stock worldwide. :toast:

Official launch date is/was Nov. 5th. You're thinking of the beefier 7800 on the 7th.

Umm, actually I purchased (2) eVGA 7800 GT's just the other day BECAUSE I knew about the 512MB version of the GTX.

Ok, actually I was originally going to buy EITHER the X1800XT or the 7800 GT's. Now I realize I want the best of both worlds. I don't have the heart to send my 7800's back.

I will be exercising my "Step-Up" option with eVGA when they have their 512MB versions.

At least you can't call me biased. I love them both!

EDIT: BTW, I think that Dumo and I are both in that "money be damned" crowd of got to have it now. I'd bet the $599 price will be down to $549 _very_ quick. But what fun is waiting.

Either way, street word on this is wait for the 512mb GTX. All sources are saying it'll be the ONLY card worth considering in the high end....

2 weeks away... TOPS, if not 5 measley days!... Can people not wait that long?

I'm waitin for the 512 7800 card to hit the shelves before I consider stepping up from my 256mb 7800gtx, if the gain is big I'll do it and send the card back to eVGA, if it's not that great, I'll just vmod my card :)

I was under the impression that image quality was better with the X1800XT than the GTX and the 512MB version won't change that.

In any event, I simply _must_ have both top ends because I want to play.

If IQ matters to you it's ATI. Otherwise you have to decide for yourself based on whatever factors are important to you.

There's no release date currently set for the master cards...

Also, keep in mind, ATi cannot be set for true trilinear filtering, or supersampling AA without being in cross-fire. Both of which can be done with NVidia cards..

Therefore, IQ is kind of a toss-up.

You can run benchmarks without the master card, but that's it.

Anyways, ATI IQ is currently top-notch, but I would wait for NVIDIA's 512MB offering regardless just for the price drop that comes with more competition ;)

The only thing the R520 has IQ wise is HQ AF...difference is only under certain circumstances....the real power of the card is using AA and AF without big performance drops... :)

But the thread title is misleading....one shop has them,....limited availability...not the whole frickin US...and in Europe I have to wait till the end of the month.....totally nuts... :slapass:

I think all we are going to see is a 7800 512 meg card with -1.6ns and at most -1.4ns memory on it. The 7800 cards out now can have 512meg on it but it would take time to produce the cards needed for a new launch like 1 to 2 months and that would put it around begging to mid Nov. There might be a faster card but I think that would be around the end of Dec to mid Jan before we see it for sale. PCB take time to layout and make for a launch because of the numbers needed for a launch. Thats why I think what were going to see here soon is just a 7800GTX with added ram to 512meg. The faster 7800 on a new PCB to use the newer memory would have to come later because of the time needed to make in the numbers needed for a launch. Theres only a few places that can layout and make the PCBs needed for NV and ATI so that make high production in short time a nell thing.

They've had 5 months Sniping... Even ATi knew this was coming, as they mentioned it in their shareholder meeting....

We've got 3 sites + theinq all mentioning 1.1ns ram and 550 mhz core. Not to mention people saying they're under NDA on the card.

Actually since that shop ships all over the US, then yes, it's available throughout the country. Other vendors will be following in the next couple of days.

As to Europe, you are behind the curve, people have had theirs for days now. Time to wake up :p:

not bad... $600 is a good start for a 512mb flagship card, but they should start lowering the price under $550.
Big improvement over the x800's release, probably due to that Sapphire contract (that Sapphire produces all ATi cards)
The x1800xt is fresh, tho. Hope they can lower prices to a $450 range to compete with the 7800 GTX.
