Just woundering what the difference is in the cores for the WUs?
I have had Gromacs and GBGromacs. I have seen others but what does it all mean?

BTW I have A bunch of computers running now ready to fold. The only thing holding me back is I forgot that I let my frend use my extra swich and I wont see him for a few weeks. But when I get it back I have the net cables now so I can just plug stuff in and let it go to work.

Basically as the team designing the methods for doing the protein folding have come up with different approaches, they have released a new core for the type of folding needing to be done. A case of the programming matching the science need and the fact that PC's evolve and have more RAM and processing power.

If you would like to dig into this a little farther, you can check out the forums....

Okay that makes sence. But I have not recive thes QMD's that I have seen other people talking about. I have read that you need to have SSE2 on you CPU to do this and my does but I don't get them.

if you are running an AMD cpu you will only get tinker (65), gromacs(78), double gromacs (79), and one other core that I can't think of (you need special flags for the last two cores). Intel chips also get the amber core (82?) and the QMD(I have no idea). The amber and QMD cores are for intel only because the folding team compiled them with a broken intel compiler that doesn't recognize amd chips. I don;t think that it is a big deal because I still get WU's, but some AMD users get really mad about it.
