Mod... How are you keeping up with me when you only have 3 agents running DIMES? You have to be doing something special.

What setting are the top dogs running to get these huge numbers?! I know they prob have more rigs... but damn.

We need to get this team in the #1 daily producers! Some tips would help us get there.

.:EDIT:.
Helheim... what are you doing that might be different?

I might wanna know that too...

Are you running it updating every 15 sec at 1kb/Sec? I noticed it doesnt make any difference how much bandwith you give the client, as long as it has lots of connections...

keep on diming and let's get XS to the number 1 :cord:

@ rod: can you make some advertising in the D2OL-section as you have some heavy influence there... The more people are diming, the better!! :toast:

I just set the delay to 15sec and the file transfer rate as high as it goes. I have noticed some days I can get 8000-9000 points a machine and other days only 5-6. Also running 5 identical VMs 3 consistently perform better than the other two so I'm not too sure on that. I wish I could get them all consistently to do 8-9 but some only do 3-4..

Set up some VMs to get more points. Doing this does take away a bit from D2OL though if you're also running that on the same box.

I did that on some rigs... What's the VM thing all about?

8k on a single machine is definatly nice! on a good day, i get 8k on 2 machines :slapass:

Can you pm me were to get a proper VM disc? I can only find a trial version of it... :(

Since you can only run one instance of DIMES on a machine you need to setup some Virtual Machines in order to run more than one instance on the same box. You can either user VMWare or MS Virtual PC.

Unless you purcahse it there is only trial versions. I bought a copy of MS Virtual PC.

Here are my settings: http://img469.imageshack.us/img469/3636/tweakshot3hz.th.jpg (http://img469.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tweakshot3hz.jpg)
I dont think the settings on the first screen do much. The VM thing is also something to look into. It really boosts output. I havent gotten one to work yet, but I should soon. How did u know I only had 3 instances running??

where can we purchase this from and about how much does it cost?
also are there any accdemic versions available?

I don't know how much they cost (Mine was donated to the cause), but I know they boost output, check my ststa, you'll see where I added 1 and then another VM).

I'm going to build a sooper-dooper-mega-ultra DIMES only rig sometime after Xmas. I plan on running 5 VM's on the machine (That's all my License will let me run)

If UnG gets back to us with the Linux Install he's working on, I might wrap my head round the pengiun and get as many on there as the machine will take.

Congrats on the output Rod, It'll boost the team, and that's what Matters

To give you an example I had some old PIII450s with 256mb available, I managed to get them running with the host OS with D2OL + Dimes and then 3 x win 2000 pro VMs each runngin Dimes. The box was nigh on useless for anything but these, and RDP was slow, but it turned in the points and made it worth running as D2OL production didnt justify running on its own. 512MB will give you 5 nicely cut down win 2000 pro VMs and a relatively good response on that box. I was runnign my Win 2000 pros with just 32-40mb of ram on the 256mb machines, they all swapped but worked !

On main dually at the moment Im running 5xwin 2000 server (128mb) VMs and its fine for day to day tasks and the Vms are quick as well.....but I do have 2gig in there.....lol

I think i have some rigs that can be used for DIMES only... VM them to the gills and watch em purr. Thanks for the tips!

Where can I get this VM software?

Dude, spread the love. I have a dedicated rig for Dimes and this would be heaven sent for production. My contribution for the team would be sick.

OI!!!!!!

Keep it Legit peepz...

If you want VM's for free, wait for UnG to get back to us with the Linux Distro he's working on, it has a freeware/GNU Licensced VM MAchine in it, you can likely get the foorprint smaller than windows, and will probably be a better solution overall.

Yes I think that a linux solution is the way ahead as it will require less resources, take up less space and be free !

Dont forget there are trial versions of vmware out there, available from from vmware themselves. Also those of you who have things like msdn and microsoft action packs will have virtual pc available.

Perhaps you'd want a closer look eh, Rod? ;) Dont worry, the implants wont hurt :D :D

This is all quite interesting. If Dimes and D2OL can be run simultaneiously without too much resource consumption...Hmmmm...:D

Even the linux distro's require licenses. So i dont know how you plan on escaping this one :slapass:

A-ha! MS Virtual PC is on the MSDN disc for free.

Yes but Im sure that its fine to use as they are legally free to download. There is also free VM type software that runs on linux also, so it becomes legit.
