my pc gave me this nice little error message.
"USB bus(i think) has experienced a power surge."
now my mouse, kb and other usb goodies dont work. i have tested em on other machines and they all work fine but my hardwired usb ports(the ones physically attached to the mobo) are now non functional.

any ideas on wtf happened and how to fix it.

and no it wasnt spy/adware. (im not totally helpless :p: )

one of your usb things consumed too much power or caused a shortage i think...
what psu do you have? how much amps does it have on the 5v usb rail?
change the jumper to supply usb devices from the normal 5v rail, check the manual :)

its the 5vSB votlage amperage you need to check.

im not sure. i am running a logisys 500W psu. i can check the voltage when i go dig up my psu box. Is ther way to reset the circuit or am i sh~t out of luck as it were. If this board is shot, are there any boards with similar features that you guys recommend. preferably ones that arent discontinued. i tried to find another one of the inifinities for my 478 with no luck.

might want to just rma your board though.

i think i will have to get a new board, i bought it a year anda half ago and got it throught tigerdirect. i think i may just bite it and grab a cpu mobo bundle

I've seen this many times here at work. RMA the board if its under warranty, if not you'll have to buy a new board.
