I have a customer that has reinstalled windows XP on his machine by just using the same file system/ windows folder. This is all fine but all his previous documents and settings folders are not viewable now.

He had a windows logon password and he checked the box to keep his folders priviate from other users. Well now he is the other user.

If I use partition magic as a viewer I can see all the files but can not open any?

There is about 9GB of unviewable data.

I need Help.

without the key you cannot view the files. I think find a brute forcer for it but that can take a while to find the key if the password and login is long/difficult in chars

I had the same problem a while ago. all my backups were encrypted so they werent actually my backups by the time I reinstalled windows :(

basically you're stuffed! otherwise try one of those programs they were talking about.
