Can someone with experience using the Asus A8N-E board with X2 please post the optimum bios settings so I can get the rig set up quickly?

Thanks.

I've just built one X2 rig to try out the new hardware. Compared to DXs, it is quieter, consumes less electricity, but costs more per rig to build, and produces fewer cands. It would take over 40 X2s to match the 32 DX farm, so for now large scale migration is out of the question. Perhaps dual X2s will be an option in the future.

Ah, the one man crunching machine :)

Any of you have a link to the 4x EZ installer? The one on Rods website is "corrupt".

How far are you overclocking these ? @2.6 ghz those x2's should be able to put out 300+ .... a lot of varibles to consider especially price. My argument though is most of us have existing 939 rigs ...... so just dropping in an x2 would double production for cheaper ... sort of x2's are still so pricey.

I just put the rig together today with the only extra PSU I have on hand, an el cheapo 250W, so I haven't gone beyond 1.4Vcore and 2.4GHz. Is there a good 939 board that doesn't need PCI-X? That could sway me into replacing a couple of AXP rigs with X2s.

MSI Neo Platinum 2 ...... not sure how x2 support is, but that board seems solid and uses nf3 250. Ive had nothing but trouble going from AGP NF2/NF3 to NF4 had to do an old fashioned format to get rid of all those old drivers. x2's have a high enough multi to not worry about HTT since NEO 2 can easily do over 300.

1.4 v and 2.4 ghz ........ try 1.50v * 104% and whatever gets you to 2.6 - 2.7. Im running that full load @ 8.5 * 318 for 2.7ghz approx with those settings and stock cooler on this 3000+. Dont know what vid options a8ne has .... im using DFI nf4. Same settings work on NEO 2 I was using though.

from what I've heard, the Neo2 plays nicely with X2's, just need a BIOS update, I think 1.a or higher, but I'm not completely sure of which BIOS it is. Now, off to play some HL2: Lost Coast!

Yeah, the cost per crunch with a side of power usage is the main thing I look at when expanding. Some of the active PFC p/s are highly efficient which can reduce the monthly cost at the expense of initial investment.

I'm hoping the Opteron 265s (dual core) will come down enough to be able to pair up with an Asus K8N-DL (http://www.lostcircuits.com/motherboard/asus_k8n-dl/). Mmmm, 4-way AMD goodness :slobber:

I'm guessing that you have the X2 rig up and running, DDT? Good way to start the week, with a >12,000 day.
