Arctic silver 5 on vrm heatsink capacitive?, conductive? yes/no :D :D
OR dont take any chances and wait for ceramique to arrive?

WAIT for the cermaique the AS5 is capacitive. The cermamique is safer to use for that application.

I agree with Kog there, Just wait for the ceramique to arrive and use it. It's better than AS5 anyways :fact: Last time I used AS5 w/ krazy glue on a vrm, I ended up frying a mosfet :D Now i'm using 3M thermal tape instead of those combinations :slobber:

Ya, I guess I know/knew the answer I just hate waiting.
btw what improvement is as5 over straight silicone paste on cpus? Will it improve my overall board/vrm temp? curious
hope its worth the $20

it;s about same as ceramique.

I get 2C better temps with ceramique, compare to as5 that is. I ran out of ceramique atm so im using as5, and let me tell you I hate this P.O.S. It's starts hot and the more it's burned in the hotter my temps get. :stick:

Because those last a LONG TIME and Vibe - 8.95 (http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.cfm?loc=iview&if=n&vID=200803) is a good price...

AS5 + krazy glue -- Do I do it? Yes. Do I recommend it? No.

If you need to "glue" it why not use the silver epoxy or the aluminum stuff? It's what I do to attach a heatsink to the VRMs by the agp slot.

When i first put together my pc-dl I stuck a hs to the vrms by the agp with crazy glue.
Now i am wondering if it acts more like an insulator
is that true?

If so they are doing a fairly good job :D

I use Artic AL epoxy. Good stuff :D

As for crazy glue, yeah it's an insulator, but if the joint is 'thin' enough, prolly doesn't matter that much since it is on the plastic casing anyway.

Hope that helps

(I wouldn't do it personally, but then I am obsessive that way (I lap all my XP64 CPUs after removing the IHS  but it really does seem to help :D ))

I don't use AS epoxy since 1) I don't really want it permanent, 2) I don't have any :p:

No trouble with insulation since I coat the bottom of the heatsink with AS5, place it on the chip, then put a small droplet of krazy glue® on each corner. Heh, even my DSL modem now has little aluminum towers on its hot chips.

so when is the modem getting a chilly1 phase unit?

^weaZel']so when is the modem getting a chilly1 phase unit?
  ...... (maybe just a small capillary branch tube) ;)

In the long run I think it's more efficient to just dehumidify an entire computer room and chill it.

I had thought about this as well but didn't think the neighbors would like the diesel powered refer unit on the side of the house. :nono:

Nono, you are not allowed to link to an outside page which is commercially run or not Xs related. But since it's D2OL related I'll leave it. But I suggest you do not link any more. Mention it, don't link. People know of google, they can google it
or else PM it.

Forum policies dictate no outside linking to commercial sites.

Well the as5 certainly helped on the cpus after cycling it a few times they are under 50C (47, 48C) with 4 d2ols @3.25 Ghz.
Just my vrms (55C)
18C ambient (air conditioner) Brrrr :D

Ya, I have an old passive P-one heatsink that is slowly being cut into pieces :D
AS epoxy is over $20, $30+ with shipping, taxes here
