I'm starting to get stuff together, and I'm going to use 134A since it's available everywhere and that's what my little compressor is made for.
But how do I use these cans you find at auto stores since the piercing setups are made for automotive use? Is there an adapter someone could point me to?

I haven't bought any refrigernet yet, so if you can provide some advice, it would be much appreciated.
I only wanted to use those little cans because the are so available.
would be about as easy to get a real tank

You can use them, just need the right setup. Is that what your asking. I'm using the R134a cans also. I had a manifold set up for R134a, this uses the 1/2" ACME connectors/fittings. But, I converted my manifold to R12 style, using 1/4" flare fittings. that way I can just buy the 1/2" ACME adaptors for the car, and have the 1/4" flare for the computer chiller.
I guess all your need is setup equipment from an auto parts store. Essentially a low side filler hose and a 1/4" flare adaptor, thats assuming you have 1/4" flare on the cooler?
See this sellers site on ebay for some stuff:

Ok, everything I currently have uses 1/4" flare fittings.
I'll see if I can find these 1/2" ACME to 1/4" adapters... if such a thing exists.
edit: they do make all kinds of adapters for this stuff. I'm going to have to buy a kit so I know exactly what I need. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

try to get a metal can tap, one without the hose or has a removable hose(some are crimped on) the tap will have either 1/4sae if its a older one for r12,finding one of these would be great ,I seen a lot of the older taps on ebay for almost nothing since there not in big demand.
or 1/2 acme (134a) in which you will need a 1/2 acme to 1/4 sae adapter
