So I was installing my office rig in my new watercooled Wavemaster case and when I fired up the rig I saw large spark and sizzle... not good.

So diagnosed it as a bad PSU that took my P5P800 out along with it. This is my 24/7 office rig so it couldn't be down for long. I didn't have time to drive to Fry's so I popped over to PCClub and bought their cheapest LGA775 board they had in stock, the MSI PM8M2-V. Underwhelming, yes.. but it's kinda ok. It is a micro-atx board with 2 DIMMS, SATA, LAN, USB2.0, S3 Unichrome VGA, 6-CH SOUND, etc, etc...

Now the BAD, VIA P4M800 chipset, NO AGP/PCI LOCKS!! Idiots, I thought we beat them sufficiently after K8T800... and NON ADJ Vcore!!!! Grrrrr....

Sucks... unless you like a stable, stock running rig :(

So there I am, this rig in my new watercooled case... at 1.3v, I can't even get the temps over 35C even with one of my radiators turned OFF for sound.

I just didn't want to put much money into it considering I'll probably go 955X/DDR2 soon anyway...

I MAY have an idea... what if I pick up one of theose P4-506's... 20 x 133 = 2666mHz? If I put one of those in, is there a way to make it run like it's a 800fsb part? By changing the strap? If I can run a 506 @ 4gHz on water 24/7 life would be good, but with only 1.3v...???
