It's not a very cold gas to work with. I think it would work well to add for a little oil carrying and maybe to drop pressures, but really 290 is far better for that.

It's NBP is -11 or so, so not very cold. More of a refrigerator gas than anything else.

Isobutane is what that is. At least it's not 600, that's more like 0c.

Cool :D should do well, was great in my lil cascade.

I recommend 507 on that one, higher pressure gas closer to what it's rated for. I think 290 is a lot closer to R22 so might not be as good.

That's a 502 TEV, so best to stick to 402a, 507, or 502 with it. It works on temp difference, yeah, but the diaphragm plate in there is gonna be set for the pressure of the gas it's made for so shoudl stick close to that and it'll work fine.

I've got loads of 290 now. I wish you lived closer. Actually scratch that, I wish I lived closer, the NE of england ain't a place I want my kid to grow up.

The orifice should give 700w coverage and be ideal in the cascade project, just turn the desuperheat screw (under that solid nut btw lol) to tune it when you're loaded. When I ran it I adjusted to about 2 inHG idle at first, then just played with it under load til I got my best HX temp.

I can't get the 0x orifice here unless I buy 20 of 'em special ordered  but I think 700w is better than the 300 or so with a 0x orifice anyways.

Well will see how I go but I need a good second stage gas I can get some c02 I think ??

You know I haven't worked with CO2, and to be honest I'm not sure the best way to set it up.

Seems like mostly it's CO2 with 290, and I think that's to flush to CO2, and carry the oil effectively.

CO2 doesn't have a liquid stage though so I've never really gotten how it works in a phase changer but I haven't need to know yet so haven't really looked into the best way to set it up.

CO2 is a decent temp though, and if you get it set up right it's good for some very cold benchin' :toast:

Hey,your TEV that has 00 orifice is used in what compressor?Ill make a cascade with 1/3hp compressor and i have a TES2 valve and 00 orifice,do you think it should work or should i try to get a 0x orifice?

I'm pretty sure he's gonna use a 1/3HP compressor as well.

The 00 usually gives 700w coverage, though I don't know if the 1/3 will have that kind of capacity at great temps, It'll still cover what the 2nd stage throws at it. Just depends on the heatload on the second stage, but running a 0x may or may not give you enough to cover the 2nd stage's load and everything else it has to deal with.

I'd rather use a 00 for cascading. A chiller is good with 0x normally unless you've got serious load on it, but cascade can pull 500w from the 2nd stage load, compressor etc so better to be covered.
