We would not be surprised if Dell said 512MB, but now that is the maximum memory that you will see on Nvidia or ATI cards even on a desktop. Nvidia has only a few 6800 Ultra cards with 512MB of memory and it's yet to announce its 512MB version of 7800 GTX card.

isnt the 512MB limitation on the desktop version pcb not gpu related? Could be 1gb - but i seriously doubt it.

Seriously, if NVIDIA made a 1GB Video card, it would hype it to hell AND sell it for $1000+.

All the proof necessary is found when you add the M170 to the basket. It's 256MB VRAM ;)

It says on Dell's site that the 6800 Ultra card is only 256mb.
