The unique design used in the XTC heatspreaders optimizes the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.

wow a half decent heat spreader.

look a bit fancy, they probably gonna save themself some cash on rma's since people dont need to pop the spreaders to see the chips now.

er.. popping the heatspreaders off save them money cause they void their warranty and not fit for RMA lol
but i doubt you can see the chips..
can you? :S

why they dont just leave it withount heatspreader???

yeah but that's just them being nice, they can still turn you down if the sticker is tampered
I wish they would just sell them without the metal plates too, unfortunately not gonna happen

why they dont just leave it withount heatspreader???
a) half the market thinks that heatspreaders on ram significantly increases overclockability....they'd lose sales
b) memory modules are man-handled by the user...plates eliminate complications and thus there are fewer RMAs from user fault
or at least that's what I've read

Looks ugly to me but I would like to see how well they perform...

Just leave them blank. The best performance is had that way. There just isn't enough space in between memory slots to allow for a cooler that helps.

looks a bit......bling....
ahhh i get it
For all you guys saying no heatspreader at alll
i think this a comprimize...it's just holes in metal where the chips are...so you still get good air flow, and they get their sales...the chips are probably pretty much bare anyway.
why they dont just leave it withount heatspreader???
The spreader offers substancial protection from static electricity shocks when handling them. Since users much more often mess with their memory than with CPU or mainboard that probably ends up counting in RMA costs.
OCZ also said the heatspreaders do lower the temperature when you have decent airflow around the memory.

OCZ also says that their DDR booster helps stabilize the voltage going into the memory.

Is that the same booster which has only 20-pin PSU connectors? :)
