Well, so I just got back my 730 Dothan back from RMA, as I thought it was DOA... So, I have a P4C800-ED some Geil One BH, an X800XT, an a Powerstream 420w. Now, I have a 3.2c that works in the system with EVERYthing but the 730 and CT479. I have tried flashing the bios from 1023, to 1022, and 1021, but nothing works. The problem is that when I put the Dothan, CT479 and stock heatsink are installed, I clear the cmos, and then when I start it fans spin...and the horrible Nothing..no post. :brick:

Now, I have no clue what else to do, any ideas? Maybe the Dothan itself has a problem with the BH, should I try different ram?:dammit:

Looks like your adapter is dead.

i'm gonna guess adapter too, but you might want to reflash your bios with a p4, just in case it still works?

Ah, sorry I didn't mention...I even bought a second adapter, same thing

:upset:

And I have flashed with a 3.2c through the 1021, 1022, AND 1023 bios', which all support the chip, but same thing with all :stick:

you sure they sent you back a different cpu?

come to think of it... did you plug in the power to em?

Yeah, triple checked every power connecter, and yes, it's different cpu as it has a new box and its a different stepping

Unless the CT479 has somekind of powerswitch besides the 2 jumpers and molex, I'm kinda lost

In that case, the ram is possible. They certainly don't like UTT very much.

Geil One is not UTT, it's BH5 ;)

And I also tried some pc2100 in it, same deal :(

Try it jumperless. I had the same prob, and realized I had the jumpers on wrong. Just took them off and never looked back.

Did you turn on the screw on the adapter(socket 479),that was the first mistake i made.
Winbond UTT should work but isn't a good overclock memory on this combo :(

Yeah, I'll try these ideas right now...maybe they will work

OMG OMG OMG...lol!! I thought that the screw only went to the middle, as I didn't want to put it too far, and I thought it stopped there. Took a small screwdriver and locked it all the way..OMG I'm stupid!!! Thanks A LOT guys...I guess it was my stupidity...not a DOA cpu :slapass:

People, NEVER make this mistake! :nono:
