this mourning they rolled back the servers and took away the 99 canidated that i did not upload. No problem with that.
now when i upload some of my canidates off of one machine 752 to be exact, I only get credit for 653. So they decided to take away another 99 of my canidated just for the EDIT  of it.
I think they screwed something up. BAD :stick:

Don't use free-dc or any of the other stats today. they will LOOK off. Use D2OL.coms stats.

I watched EMC march out 40+ drives and other misc HW through the night when we had something very similar.
Life is full of nasty surprises like that :fact:

explane this to me then. i had 155899 canidates and thed they rolled bach the server giving me 155800 canidates AND i had a -99 canidates for today. Then I uploaded 756 canidates and only recieved 653, so they took another 99 from me for a total 198 taken from me today 99 were not mine and 99 were real. So D2ol took 99 of my canidates.
and these numbers are from D2OL's site.

well, we (XSCM) just uploaded 1806 cands in last update, but our total for today is 1463, we were negative for a little while today. BTW, we just entered top 100, we are ranked 99 and are still climbing
Rodzilla

Ok... we are all in the same boat... just different figures. So I'll do mine because I know exactly what I had buffered and uploaded from the outage. We can all agree on this.
Servers went down around 3:00am on 10-23-2005
I got 15 points in before the end of the day. So I had 459,160 right before the outage.
10-24-05 the stats server came back online and had errors. This caused the stats to show I did 302 points for the day. (Which I didn't... the results server was down so this was impossible.)
So on 10-24-05 the stats gave me a new total of 459,462
Today, 10-25-05 the error was fixed. Causing a -302 output for some of the day.
Re figuring the total that puts me back at 459,160 (Right where I should be.)
Then later the results servers come back online. I uploaded exactly 3,119. You can check what I uploaded here.
http://d2ol.tastats.com/individual_nodes.php?UserId=Rodzilla&showdesc=Y
Figuring my new total I should have 462,279
This is exactly what Free-DC and D2OL.com have my stats at. The totals work out.

That's not good press. if you were on the outside... looking at joining out team and seen that D2OL staff had taken points away... would you join?

I can totally see how it looked like they shorted us points. If you JUST look at todays output it looks like I uploaded 3,119 and they took away 302.

I'm guessing they have been scrambling to get stuff up and will have it sorted out in a few days. If not THEN start yelling. (Give them one day after everything is us to rest though, so they don't gum stuff up trying to help ) :toast:

What kinda gets me is that "the staff" (it's just Charles doing the tech stuff) had a RAID-5 with a UPS and still lost mission critical data. No hot swap and auto-rebuild of the RAID? No UPS monitor to gracefully shut-down before the batteries ran out during mid-write? :P

can i no longer register more instances of d2ol??? i have a friend who thinks his runs faster than mine and he wants to have a 3 day d2ol off with me... my x2 vs his P4 3.4
so i figure XSCM may as well get those 300 cands from him...but i cant register his copy of d2ol right now... is this cuz of the stats being down?

3 day d2ol off??? how about a 100 day d2ol Off, 3 days arn't long enough to accurately deterimine the scores ;)

I would not consider anything less than 4.3 to be called a competition.

a half decent clocked x2 will be putting out the same as a dual xeon at around 3.2ghz. even at 5ghz i doubt his would beat yours.
perkam
10-26-2005, 04:39 AM
even at 5ghz i doubt his would beat yours. A 5ghz Intel isnt as slow as you may think ;) . With cas 3 a possibility now even at 5ghz, you're looking at upwards of 9k in bandwith on sandra...which isnt a joke, even for crunching.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read his post over at D2OL.com. It's hard to find a UPS that doesn't have a shutdown feature on a low battery.
I've been in the IT biz for my whole working life... and it's prettty hard to blow up a RAID 5 array.
But... maybe the guy just doesn't have good luck!

Just a quick note.
If you guys exit the client without stopping it the client will skip cands when you restart it. So you think you crunched X cands but you really crunched less cands.
Hope that helps to solve a few problems,
Carlos

no its even slower :p:
but seriously the x2 has 2 proper cores whereas the intel only has one with ht.
Also according to the dbench a amd64 quite easily beats a p4. (compare my score of around 135s on a 2.75ghz sandiego vs rod's time of 161 (including the 2 instance divide by 2) on a 3.75ghz p4ee) so even at 5ghz i doubt the p4 would get much below 115s.
if you put this into numbers per day id guess at around 170 for a single core amd64, 200ish for a 5ghz intel and well over 300 for the x2.
