Too bad it'll take about a 5Ghz OC to match a 2.8Ghz FX57 :(

Too bad it'll take about a 5Ghz OC to match a 2.8Ghz FX57 It says they would've wanted for it to OC to 5ghz on air in their results and that it should provide some competition to the X2 until Conroe hits.
Doesnt say anywhere that a 5ghz presler cant match a 2.8ghz fx-57. 5ghz on intel can now be done on cas 3 which means insane 8k+ bandwiths on sandra, so do make some better thought out observations, it can really turn ppl off the thread. :shakes:
You want to see what they DID say ? ;)
While AMD just celebrated the grand opening of Fab 36, they are still at a minimum of half a year behind Intel when it comes to 65nm production.

4.25ghz is a nice number for stock cooling :)

4.25ghz is a nice number for stock cooling Yup, for a dual core, relative to the smithfields thats nuts. But what really impresses me is that running d2ol or any other dc program on these has mouth-watering potential !! :slobber:

PerkamShhhh, don't give away my secret plan (seriously).

It looks nice, there is still some time for refining the 65nm process before the launch on the market even if it is already good, I think the final power consumption will be slightly lower.
The minor number of stages in the pipeline will reduce wasted cycles and latency times so I'm expecting Intel to be back in the enthusiast market :)

AMD told me 4 months.
Unofficially, expect 65nm production to start Q1 2006 and have in serious volume by the end of the year.

Remember they also used stock cooling. With a better heatsink ie Big typhoon etc, they would have gotten even better overclocking results :)
And, I agree with Perkam. A 5ghz Prescott setup would be quite a bit faster than a stock FX-57 overall.

We'll just all have to be patient and wait until we see some high voltage/extreme cooling results. Netburst has been a good architecture over the years. Sure a64's have superseded them, but lets hope netburst goes out with a bang.
