144 + 2x1gb crucial ram. Need help achieving divider stability.

I just got my 144, and it doesn't like the settings my venices used (Ram @~240 3-3-3, most other timings auto.) Damn thing simply wont stabalize when running a divider. I'm fairly certain it's a timing issue and need help with folks who are running these chips with 2x1gb of average (not 2-2-1.5 stuff) ram on a divider

This is what I use for ~300 @3-3-3-8 1T with Bios 704-2BTA, passed 17+hr prime, OCCT, SPI 32M, 3DMarks and 6+hr of BF2 on 64 players map:

Set to 150 (from 180/166/150/133 which werent working before). And tightened up my secondary timings from

Couldnt break 2.3ghz before, at 2.4 now priming and slowly working up, but I expect Ill get stuck again soon, so anyone with some experience with this sort of setup please let me know what you learned.

I doubt LDT voltage, Chipset voltage and HTX are problems, since I cant imagine a cpu impacting that and I've had this board at 330HTT stable @ 166, 133 AND 100 memX before. I think 1t would help me a lot, but sadly my ram cant do it.

Now it maxes @ ~2450, but still it's memory controller that's the problem Im sure. Trying some of bens settings.

RWQ Bypass to 8x and Bypass max 4x seems to have helped a lil more. Inching up again.

Well what do you know. 2t was what was holding me back, amazingly though, my ram will do 1t with this cpu. It absolutely refused to do 1t with every other system it's been in. (a nf2 rig, a dothan p4c800ed rig, and several different venice).

Seems to be acting normally now that Im @ 1t. So Im testing cpu.

Why don't you just set it to DDR100 divider and max out the core speed? :)

I couldn't do that. This cpu + my ram +2t (which was what I was running) couldn't run stable @ any divider above ~ 2300-2500mhz.


Im gonna max core out @ 150 divider now, since unless this is the best "G" opteron ever, I won't maxx out my ram before my cpu @ this divider.

Sounds very weird to me than a E revision memory controller in an Opteron is any different from any other CPU. Fundamentally, why would it be different from any A64 of the same week?

No clue man. All I know is 2t @ divider = prime error/cant load windows @ 2500 or less. 1t = priming @ 2766 now.

If anyone is interested this thing clocks almost exactly like my two "good" venice (week 15 and week 20 3200+).

2700mhz stable @ 1.55vcore and 2800mhz stable @ 1.65 vcore then it hits a wall (possibly temp related though since dfi reads almost 60*C at 1.7vcore).

It's a cabge 0536 VPMW.

Clocks just where my venices did. Probably a bit weak for these opterons I'm guessing.

What cooling are you running? Temp seems very high, unless ambients are 10C higher than mine..

Really? I think temps are pretty good considering the typhoon only has a 1200rpm fan. Ambient was ~ 75*F

My X2 @ 1.65V @ 2.7GHZ maxes out at 49C with dual prime

Well. I bought a 148 and hit the EXACT same problems as before. So I did what anyone who isnt an idiot would have done already... moved ram from orange to yellow. Bam. I can run 2t and all my problems dissappear.
