I've done air, watercooling, and WC'ing with server type AC unit cooling case.
It's time to start on a chiller setup. Would one of these units perform well?

I've been reading up on chiller setups and want to make sure I start with a good unit I not sure what size pumps these would have. I'm going to purchase a AC unit and a cooler in the next day or two and start getting it ready.

Any 5k BTU air cond is a fine unit for chilling. There always between 1/3 and 1/2hp pumps. Thats plenty for a -20C chiller, if done right, a little lower. Read some of the old threads in this forum, theres lots of these being converted for chillers

Take a look,

Well stopped by the Bestbuy store and they had a fridgidaire 5000BTU variable fan control for $40.00 bucks last one and it was display model regular 89.00 bucks. However having problems finding the 12 pak cooler. October in Cleveland not the best time to be shopping for coolers. Picked up tube bender and some other tools, it sucks working out of town, no tools. Will post later after some dismantling and hacksawing.

Stripped it down removed fan and temp sensor. temps went to -7 degrees F.
then stopped and started riseing. i'm guessing the control pannel has something to do with it I disconnect thermostast control no luck. I guess I just need to elimanate control pannel completely. not sure about wiring on this main power cord is black- white- green, they connect to the control pannel. from the control pannel to the compressor is red, from compressor to fan is blue and black.
I connect the greens togather and they connect to a grounding point on the frame of the AC unit. No Problem there

I'm almost sure the black-red-blue wires need to be twisted togather. Is that right?

and what about white wire from power cord ?

Did the compressor turn off? Because if it didn't, you were successful in disabling the thermostatic control. It's normal for a chiller to bottom out temp-wise, and then go up a degree or two. (At least mine does.)

Not enough info to figure out your wiring.

PIC please.
Not sure what voltage do fan run at but you could wire the compressor with those black and white. Green is for ground. (Do make sure if Green is ground and the other two are live wires :P)
If it is 115v ac fan, just hook it up to the black and white.

home depot 79.00 ac is fine (http://imagex.homedepot.com/f/248/13340/7d/www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/eplus/163421_2.jpg)

You will need 10 feet of 0.031 cap tube a 2 to 3 cuin dryer and possiablly some new gas.. R507/404/408/iceon/R290..
I recomment a 5 gallon rez and simple PEN stat of 100 to -40C to controll the liquid temp. Recover the gas in the system remove the evaporator cut the shaft off the fan on the indoor side or just remove the blade. MAke a tight as possiable coil of 3/8 copper about 15 feet is fine for the evap inlet at the bottom outlet at the top. you can use a flexable line set for the connection to the condenser or you can use just copper tubing either is fine.. You will need some insulalation and seal tape. Home depot has everything except teh filter drier and capilllary tube,,

hit -9 degress F. in 10 minutes and stopped, temp rose to 15.5 degree F and have'nt moved. Don't know if I'm missing something. I removed the control pannel and temp sensor it's wired irectly to comp. & fan. Question about thermostat. Whats it look like?

Good news, new thermometer, hit -26.9 C. and stayed there. Guess its time for
res. and coolant.
