Say a lingering farewell to the Venice 3000+

As of today the AMD price list no longer includes A64 desktop 3000+s (or 2800+s for that matter).
Now obviously there will be plenty in the channel (thats the reason I said lingering farewell!) but it would seem that either AMD is planning to stop or has already stopped making them. This also applies to ALL DTRs.
BTW the price list also include price cuts on Turions, X2s and Semprons but not A64s.
As I said in another thread expect the Opteron 939s to go up next week (144 - 150 models).

Yeah poor 3000 heh. Not that it would be hard to find a used one.

Also, why do you expect the opterons to go up? DIdnt you see AMDs news update? They are DROPPING prices on all Single core A64 procs Oct.24th(Tomorrow). Then again for the opterons on the 31st. Expect prices to go DOWN.

The price list is already out - go check the website - no reduction on A64s - only on turions, semprons and X2s (its the 24th in some parts of the world already you know!)
According to reseller letter - Opterons prices are going UP! Everything else the memo mentions about Semprons and X2s going down and A64s staying the same has been correct so far.
EdIt actually the way the memo is worded UP could mean Uni Processor! But then it makes no reference to price drop in the sentence.

Seems like it says A64's and opterons are dropping to me. Theres no change on the FX line it says, but definitely says A64's in that.

No the link makes no reference to Opteron price drop - besides if it was a drop then the 152 would also drop as typically the highest price model drops in price first.
Also look at the price differential between a 152 and 150, it is more than 2 times the price and you dont see that kind of differential in the 2 way or 8 way or any model for that matter. A price rise sounds way more feasible.

Yes FallenGod already gave the link for that memo. Like I said it makes no reference to the Opterons going up or down (assuming UP means UniProcessor). To cut the price of the 150 and below and not the 152 (especially if there is a 154 coming out) makes no sense whatsoever especially based on current price structuring for 1way.
THQ erroneously says the memo confirms the price drops - but since when did Price Change mean price drop?
The memo states A64s dropping in price and AMD has already released the new price list and they are unchanged so it is not 100% accurate.

Yeah the Opteron pricing is all over the shop - I guess they will have to phase out socket 940 on 1-way eventually.
