As stated, i need some opinions of many memory experts in choosing a perfect pair of memory for my Intel S478 rig. I am likely to choose a good pair of BH5 / UTT. My proc is able to do 250/255Mhz stable with my current memory @ 3.4Vdimm. But i am upgrading to 1GB. So i need some opinions and input from u OCers...even though i roughly know what i should get.

At first i planned to get the Mushkin Redline XP4000, but i read many reviews saying that, the XP4000 results are guaranteed only on AMD S939 platform. So since i'm on intel, most prob it wont perform as it stated.

OK. My setup...my mobo paired with a booster, is able to do MAX 3.4Vdimm according to OCZ website...and its proven by the previous owner of my Mushkin Black Lvl 2 memory, dat injecting more Vdimm would not yield any more result....unless ur on AMD of coz...as for my proc, it is able to do 267 FSB MAX, so far i hav tried with dividers...so i am looking for a pair of Memory dat can do bout 255-260Mhz @ 3.4Vdimm...another choice of mine, is OCZ EL Gold PC3200 which uses BH5 chips, but not binned at higher speeds...so i am juz playin with my luck if i get that...

anybody who can suggest me a good pair of memory, dat works well on Intel platform... your welcomed to do so....i do not think TCCD is my thing...esp since i am on Intel, i would not benefit from the hi Mhz dat it can provide me...thanx for reading and your opinions are much appreciated... :)

S478 would put it around i865/875 chipset generation.

You could go on Crucial.com and use their memory advisor thingy for your mobo. They guarantee compatibility so if the RAM you buy doesn't work you'll get yer money back.

If you're after 1Gb dual channel, keep an eye out on the second hand market, as people move towards 2Gb kits. There should be the tried and true BH5's, etc. that will perform optimally on an Intel platform.

yes indeed i am lookin for a pair of BH5...1Gb kit...but they are still very hard to come by...

as for UTT n the new BH5, seems like nobody are using them on Intel...n apparently they wont perform well on intel compared to AMD..

if you have intentions of going to A64 later on with a DFI u can first get some UTT or TCCD

if you are keeping this until DDR2 i'd say some Hynix d43 or d5

I answered down in OCZ forum :)

UTT on Intel i865/i875 simply sucks... Just keep that in mind :)

old school BH-5

nothing else

except crucial ballistix...

but that doesn't run 2-2-2-5 at 255 mhz

not 24/7 use anyway.

2.5-3-3-5 not really a problem on ballistix at 255 mhz

hmm..thanx 4 ur input guys...

yeah, i suppose UTT will be a bad idea...so looking for old school BH-5's now...hmm...

if cannot find, mebe will end up with TCCD then...which is not too bad on Intel no?

I have had great results with TCCD mem on my s478 setup (see sig), but on my 4.0Ghz on-air-run was a heat issue. If I would have had the waterblock which I now have on my p4gpl-x I would have been capable of higher and better results.
Personally I love TCCD. Those things will run great [for most of the time] on very little voltage...

ch-5 is good to, twinmos speed premium, dunno if they still use these chips though

Unfortunately what works on an A64 platform doesn't necessarily work on a i865/875 platform. The general consenus is BH-5 is the way ahead in these matters. What processor is it your plannig to use in this setup?

I might have to give 1GB of old skool BH-5 the flick. Would offer it to you but I will get way more $$ for it in my own country here where everything is way overpriced

For some reason for the life of me I cannot get 4x512MB of old skool BH-5 to run dual prime stable on my P4C800-E. It will error out anywhere from 10min to 3hrs :( so I guess it is a no good for 2GB of BH-5 that I was lead to believe would be ok by others.
No matter what voltage I use or timings, switch off PAT via tweaker.

yea, intel only the old BH-5.

My tccd's do 250-255 on my intel setup (sig)
It is corsair XL pc3200 ram
And are perfectly 24/7 stable, running them all day. :D
(but thats about the max you will get on the 865/875)

it don't matter if it's bh-5 utt or tccd 1mhz is 1mhz on any plattform 246*17 = 4182 then after that run a devidor

depends on the chipset you use, but ive heard intel chipsets in general perform well and oc well with crucial/micron memory i think.

tccd seems to work not so good, bh5/utt works good and crucial/micron works good afaik :)

which type of crucial are u talking bout? PC3200 or PC4000? i think u must be referring to the PC4000 one using the Micron 5BD rite?

btw, than x4 all your replies...i was looking for this thread, where i originally started in xtreme bandwidth IIRC...but couldt find it....juz realised that sum1 moved it here... :D

well..if any of u ppl know wherei can find good ol BH5, pls do let me know....i think i might be going for Mushkin Black PC4400, TCCD/5 or mebe Team Xtreem DDR600 TCCD. I think dat wud be OK rite? might give micron a shot too....if SAAYA was referring to the crucial 5BD...hmm...decision decision...
