I picked up a dozen sticks of this stuff for $99.00 a stick at Frys. Good price to upgrade the office machines.
This is the PQI stuff on sale this week.

I went to Fry's site and didn't see no PQI for $99 but I guess this is the PQI stuff you're talking about Bad A$$ overclocking modules (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820141210)..........I've seen lots of other peeps getting these kind of results with PQI.

yeah this is great value ram. before i modded my p5wd2 i got them to about 370mhz 4-4-4-12, but they're just my everday sticks so i haven't tried higher.

Fugger,
I bought 2 kits from newegg along with the P5WD2 premium and d830. They will each register 667 when only 2 sticks are installed but lower to 533 with all 4. When following PQI tech support instructions my bios crashes and after reinstalling it is (266 frequency in CPUZ). Any clues on how to fix this?
I was having a heating problem but after flashing with latest 0606 bios the d830 dropped 20 C. however the mobo rose 10+. Is there any software that might bring it back down? I'm trying to make a silent case so fewer fans if possible. I have aimed an old fan from a previous build temporarily and it has dropped it 10 C.
...running XP PRO x64
Thanks for any help...

Keep the memory at 1:1
Can you drop the multiple to 14x with that bios? I am on 0519 and it is a far better bios for overclocking.
Set the timing to 3-3-3-9 up to 330FSB or so and drop back to 4-4-4-12 beyond 330FSB.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking the the bios and manual but can't find 1:1. Can you point me in the right direction? I'm coming from a PIII 1.2 and ABIT mobo...Asus is a very different. I haven't even looked at the abit bios for 4 years.
Any particular reason to lower the multiplier? I'll start overclocking when I get everything stable. I believe the original bios was 04xx. The new one had a drastic effect on the temp.

ok, lets say your fsb is default 200
You would have an option to set "400" speed in bios, i belive that is the top option.
Once you go to 266 fsb you will have to select 533 memory speed. the 400mhz speed is a 4:3 ratio

If I'm not trying to overclock at the moment, and the FSB is 200 (x15), is there a setting for the ram (667) without changing the FSB? PQI instructions were....
AI Overclock>Manual
DRAM frequency>667
DRAM voltage>Auto
Chipset:
Dram time by SPD>Disable
4-4-4-12
Save and exit
which crashed the bios.
EDIT: I did find a setting for 880/667 but it wouldn't boot (but the bios didn't crash which was nice...I've never heard of a bios that erased itself and then reinstalled due to overclocking). I upped the FSB 10% which gave me 1:1 in memory but the memory was even slower than before. Again, wouldn't boot when at 667...is there a memory voltage recommendation?

After 5 kits I finally found 2 that worked. No wonder I was going crazy. I also replaced the Asus mobo in the process but looks like that might not have been the problem.

Anyway, yeah...4GB of DDR2 is svelte for sure, especially when it's faster than 2GB (if I'm not mistaken, it is).

Super Talent Announces World’s Fastest 2GB DDR2 Kits
San Jose, California – February 13, 2006 -- Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of DDR and DDR2 memory modules, today announced a new 800 Megahertz, 2 Gigabyte DDR2 memory kit. Super Talent’s new T800UX2GC4 is a matched pair of 1GB PC2-6400 Low Latency DDR2 modules.
AMD will be switching to DDR2 soon and I am sure everyone will be digging up these DDR2 threads as they provide a great deal of information on timing and proven compatability when fully loaded.

Almost done, been memtesting settings for many hours and still not done.
I also have been testing compatability when mixing.

Well, I just dug out a D9 kit from Corsair which does 1000 mhz 3-2-2-8 @ 2.2 Vdimm :D Can we expect something close from these new DDR2 kits?

Mrlobber, yes in a larger denomination than 512MB with and deliver more bandwidth per Mhz
Using a ratio is alot different than doing it 1:1

FUGGER,
Where can we get those kits? Is it good to wait for those memories to mature when Conroe and AM2 appears or will or the low latency D9 fat body dissapear like BH5? People have been scaring us with rumor that D9 has been discontinued and we will not see anything like that again.
I'm really confuse now as I'm looking for a pair of DDR2 2x1GB that can do DDR2-800 or 400FSB with 1:1 at timing of 3-2-2-4 or at least 3-3-3-8 to pair with Conroe.
