Hi,
as i am starting my first phase change project, i am just wondering if this compressor is good enough to reach -50° temps
Compressor (http://www.modkjol.no/wh/mk/MKDokume.nsf/43f94b7c487bea46c125690c0041418d/8132a21c9a563272c12569840034d37d/$FILE/232ES-F.pdf)
i am planning to use it with r507
thx in advance

what would the difference in temperature be, if i switched the 1/4 hp with a 2hp???

2hp? :slobber:
SRY.... but that's just SICK!
That's overkill! ;) If you have a 2HP comp @ home
keep it up for an auto or something!
But in a single... it's just overkill imho! ;)

there wont be a very big difference if any at all.
but if you make a auto you really great temps with the 2 HP

auto = autocascade???
i will start with a single phase change, and keep the 1 or 2hp for later then
(not sure if it is a 2hp, it at least a 1hp, getting it in a couple of hours for free :) )
now another question, can i build a phase change unit with the 1/4 hp compressor????
someone told me that these compressors were used for airco, and that it isnt possible to build a phase-change unit with it???
He said, this a HBP you need a LBP or an HST
any advice??

ya that would be the way to go!!
1/4 is good
need a LBP compressor

damn, so the HBP isnt good
damnit, have to look for another compressor then
thanks a lot guys

That 1/4 hp would be a great 24/7 rig the spec sheet you posted was a draw of 2.2 amps thats like 2 ----100 watt light bulbs, not bad on the power bill.
Don't ask "what temps will i get" cause that depends on load, refrigerant used and your ability to finely tune it for the maxium performace.
I'd go for it!!!!!!!! :toast:

its about 50 dB
but i can get enough compressors for free, maybe nice for starting my first project
thank you guys for al the info, i will get u updated

they are not new, just telling you that
got to find some good compressors for myself though
it looks like i can get about 5 compressors(at a store that has gone bankrupt) and some at the scrapyard of old freezers and some more at a company that got a lot of old freezers
so, choice enough if you tell me ;D

how can you test that a compressor works???
just put into the xxxxxxx (thing for electricity, in US 110V in europe 220V or230V)
thx in advance

nobody????
if you have a megger you can check if the resistance of the windings is still oK.
Otherwise just hoo it up to the power :)

i said LBP and HST is best.
the compressor can work but its not so good for the temp range we use:)

sorry, misunderstanded you then
i will prolly get some new at Thursday
building my first one with temps that go lower than -10°, if that is ok, changing the compressor to a better one, or just building another phase change
if that goes really well => autocascade maybe
(jort, would you mined unblocking me in msn :))))
i don't think your ready for auto yet, soon you will.
make some single's first ;)
about msn, first you need to say something, then i'll think about it:)
