sorry, but there are no more p4gd1 boards :(
please stop asking about it :P

The estimated prices for the P4GD1 from cirthix is around 140$ shipped within the us or canada. These are retail boards, but prices will change (probably cheaper) based on how many people get these boards. If you are not in the us or canada, plase deal directly with saaya.

If you are serious in buying a board from me, post inthis thread and i will add you to the list below. This list is needed to guage interest and let me know how many boards to order from saaya.

If you need your board's bios flashed, I can do so. I dont know what bios the boards are shipping with, but if you need me to flash it to a dothan compatable one, all you have to do is ask :).

Another XS member from Europe is getting a board for me now. If it all works out he could be interested. I'll ask him. I'm sure there are a lot of people in the western hemisphere that would like to buy this board. I think that right now this is the best gaming setup you can get.

Hurry up, they're starting to disappear here in Europe too!
I think you get the best prices in Germany, found it for €90. But, only in one store (http://www.geizhals.at/eu/a131937.html)!
And this is a big shopping search engine, searching for P4P800 SE gives you 118 stores (http://www.geizhals.at/deutschland/a90117.html)!
I was looking for P4GD1 a couple of months ago and they were much easier to find back then.

afaik the only differences between p4gd1 and p4gpl-x are that the gd1 got 2 ram slots and sata controllers more than the gpl-x.

i wouldn't pay 30-40€/$ to get 2 more ramslots :)

I looked into this and if done legitimately (paying all taxes and such), it comes out to almost $150 a board before paying shipping to the buyers. But good luck to you if you can do it cheaper. I might even take one (though I doubt it since I would kill myself for selling my 2.9ghz dothan only to buy the board who's unavailability made me sell the dothan).

Both the P4GD1 and P4GPL-X have four S-ATA connectors supported by the ICH6 southbridge. The P4GD1 got an additional P-ATA RAID controller, the iTE IT8212F PCI.

In other words it means that P4GD1 can take up to six P-ATA devices while the P4GPL-X only takes two. :)

From the results i've seen aroudn the forums, they both overclock about the same. They are on the same pcb and use (nearly, i think its a different revision or something, anyone know for sure?) the same chipset. IMO, the extra couple of bucks is worth the extra slots for ram.

are you going to try to get that rebate thing going? if so, count me in
with a few (3 or so) :D
btw.. there's one fella on the big e that has 50 p4gd1, at ~10 euro above
the price listed up there. the gpl-x seems to be fairly common, 58 shops
carry them supposedly, but only a handful show them as really available
(though the listing says "in stock").

charlie,
you did run both boards, right. which one felt better? the gpl-x is a kinda
stripped down gd1 with 2 ramslots missing and a few other things, like the
ide-raid and a slightly smaller nb-hs than the gd1. did you notice any real
differences in performance between the two?

sure, i already called both the shops with the board in stock, the first has em for 89€ but only has 2 left as of today, the other store is reeaaallly crappy. lithan asked me to order 3 boards or so for him and friends some weeks ago and i called that shop. the owner is a greedy idiot, he wants 115€ for each board and he offered me a rebate of 2€ when buying 3 boards :slap:
so that second shop, the dolphin shop in austria is no alternative... very expensive, no rebate pretty much, only 3-5 boards, only expensive shipping options, doesnt accept paypal or credit cards, only bank transfair wich means it delays everything for a week

i also saw the ebay offer, i already called them and expect them to call me back tomorrow with details :)
they have 50 boards, maybe even 100, and they offer them for 90€, im sure i can get a rebate from them :D
shops that use ebay tend to be more rebate friendly :D

Nope, am from Asia =)...shipping plus insurance plus tax plus custom duties, we have crappy laws in here :(...
but you live in the us?

btw, im focussing on the p4gd1, if you guys rather want the other board with only 2 ram slots then let me know. i could also buy some of both boards, send them all to cirthix or somebody else and he then distributes them. :)

ive tried both boards with my previous 730.
Same hardware was used in the test, both mobos were Vmodded(chipset)
GD1 was going to 286 Pi 1MB stable (tightest bios settings for ram,2x256 BH-5,Vdd=1.97v)
GPL-X only 261 Pi 1MB stable.Cant run with Turbo though. And max Vdd was 1.72v.Any higher voltage-->coruption in desktop.

that depends on when the guy / shop returns his questions and says yay
to the rebate we're asking for (if they do that, fingers crossed for them
doing it).
and shipping it to one place on your shores to do the redistribution is
way less hassle for saaya. just think of 20 parcels going overseas (usa /
canada). each needs a customs declaration done, etc.. that will take
quite some time - speaking of my own experiences here. also it *may*
(or may not) be cheaper to ship one big insured package instead of
20 smaller, but nontheless insured, packages. once they hit your shores
shipping them to their final destination should be considerably less.

this last paragraph is *my* estimation (not based on anything, but
probably commonsense, who knows <gg>)

Why would they not support? Don't they have a global warranty? At least asus notebooks have global warranty.

But we shall see :p:

To answer your questions, shipping to me will cost about 60 usd for 10 boards. shipping from me to the rest of the us will cost about 10usd each. That brings the total shipping cost to about 16usd per board.

If saaya were to ship you a board directly for germany, it would cost about 40usd per board.

This is off of asus's GLOBAL support pagej, which can be found here.

Note that in other categories, there are differences in the warranty depending on where you are. This is not true with motherboards :)

If saaya were to ship you a board directly for germany, it would cost about 40usd per board.i checked, more like 30$, but its still cheaper to send it all to you or somebody else and he then ships it internationally in the us.

good news everybody, i called the ebay dude and they are realy cool guys :D
he signed me up for 12 boards so far, and he lowered the price from 97€/board to 89€/board. the other shop has them for 89€ already in their shop, but they only have 1 or 2 boards left. less than 89€ would have been better of course, but this ebay dude was really nice so i didnt want to push it too hard, plus a rebate of 8€/10$ a board is pretty nice :)
and shipping to me will only be 10$ total! :D

i said i will call them agai and tell them how many boards i want on friday or monday next week. i should get the boards early next week and will send them out right away, so they will arrive at cirthix or whoever distributes the boards in the us by the end of next week or the beginning of the week after that :)

please ask everybody you know who might want to have a board too, the way it seems those are the last p4gd1s so they are going to extinct soon :D

dont forget that the 89€ isnt the whole price.
shipping to me will be practially zero, its 10$ for all the boards i want and its even insured :D so its less than 1$ per board hehe

but we still have to add shipping to the us, to cirthix, and then shipping to you guys.
shipping to cirthix will be 60€ i think, about 75$
dont know what shipping from cirthix to you guys will be then.
and we have to add paypal fees and currency convertion fees on paypal.

so its 89€ (107$)
plus paypal ??? 2%? so 2$ per board i think
plus shipping to cirthix 60€ i think, that would be around 5$ a board
plus shipping from cirthix to you, wich would be 15$ a board i guess

107
+2$
+5$
+15$

so it should be aroud 130$ a board. im not sure, it might as well be 140$, cirthix is going to figure out the shipping and paypal stuf and im going to figure out the shipping to cirthix and we will post the final costs then.

shipping to germany is of course cheaper, shipping to the rest of europe will probably cost the same as shipping to people in the us.

those are all just estimates, just to give you an idea of the costs :)
its nothing final yet! :D

I was thinking more like pay Cirthrix the total amount via paypal in USD.

Then Cir can send the lump sum to saaya's paypal that way there is only 1 conversion from USD to euros.

It doesn't matter to me how it gets done, but I assumed that Cir would take the buyers money and then transfer that to Saaya.

cirthix
10-24-2005, 05:16 PM
we wont know firm prices untill i check on the usd to euro conversion costs, paypal costs, a final price on the boards, and a final shipping price. it will be about 140 usd, give or take a few.

as for payment.. here's how it will go down

saaya buys the boards.
i pay saaya for however many bards are beign shipped to me, plus the shipping and conversion and stuff.
once i get the mobos, i'll send them out individually after i receive the payment for them.
then you guys show us the nice oc results :)

saaya

no, not yet, cirthix wil figure out the paypal and shipping in the us thing and i will figure out the shipping to the us thing and we will chat and then post details here tomorrow if all goes as planned :)

i expect around 130$ a board as i posted earlier :)

This could be discontinued in the uk but i would get them while you can.

THis is a great thing you guys are doing here. It's a shame that these boards arent available in the US. Dothan + p4gd1 + new ATI card's = BIG SINGLE CARD FUN :)

It's fun with single 7800GTX as well ;)

Btw, just to add, I once calculated the costs for shipping one P4GD1 to the U.S., and it was around $150 or even little more indeed. So saaya gives an insane price on them for you, and I hope you guys will get your boards and will be proud of them :D

cirthix
10-25-2005, 03:15 PM
you gotta ask saaya about that. He is getting some boards so that he can distribute them in europe. The prices should be a fair bit lower than what the US people are paying. I'm guessing 105euros, but pm saaya.

hey, sorry i was too busy last night, will wait for cirthix tonight to discuss all the details :)
ill be online on msn/yahoo/icq/aim so hit me up if you have any questions.

i talked to the guys from the shop today and they only have 24 boards left!
so they sold 26 boards in one week already... so i decided to order the board tomorrow already! that means i need to know how many board to order late tonight or early tomorrow morning!

if i dont get a clear confirmation about whether somebody wants a board or not i will NOT order one for him!
so to those who werent sure yet, please let me know asap!

and i have bad news for all of us :(
i heard that asus discontinued the ct-479... so the stores will run out of stock sooner or later. i think there are a bunch of them left in several shops, so no eed to panic, but if you want to buy one better buy one soon.
its just a rumor, dont know if its true... but i heard it from somebody who sells a lot of asus hardware so i tend to believe him.

EDIT: just called 3 shops in germany and together they have over 30 adapters in stock, so theres really no need to panic, the stocks should last for a few weeks, but as i said, if you want one better buy it soon as availability will get worse and prices might go up a little.

bad news btw, a guy from hong kong told me the board is out of stock over there too, and another friend in australia with access to 2 distributors told me he cant find the board on any list there either, so it looks like those are actually some of, if not THE last stock of those boards worldwide

Then, those who want them will PM me, we'll swap shipping info, then you send me a check or postal money order. Once I get your payment, I'll ship out your motherboard.

For those of you in Europe, please deal directly with saaya, I only am doing distribution to the US and Canada (others too, but you gotta talk with me about that).

this way nobody will have any reason to feel trolled or ripped off, and its the fastest and easiest way to get the boards all shipped :)

saaya I wanted two boards.

the last time i asked you you said definately 1 and maybe 2 iirc.
cirthix made a mistake calculating the amount of boards, he only calculated 6 for europe when its actually 8.

and he also seems to have miscalculated the amount of boards overall, i see 21 boards asigned but we only have 20 ^^
the last board that was assigned will have t be cancelled then.
sorry for the inconvinience :(

1. cirthix paypals me the money us money and the european guys paypal me the moey for their boards.
then i pay the shop, get the boards and distribute the boards. all the us boards get sent to cirthix who will then collect the money and distribute the boards in the us. just like i posted before, no change of plans :)

i already received money from hipro5 and sky, i expect the money from cithix today, since the shop unfortunately doesnt use paypal i will book the paypal money to my bank account. this should be done on wednesday next week (11-2), then i transfair the money to the shop. the guy was really cool and said he only needs a print out of the verification that i trasfaired the money and that they wont wait until the money is actually booked on their account. so this means they send out the boards the same day, wednesday next week (11-2) if all goes well. this means i probably get the boards on friday(11-4) or even thrusday(11-3) instead of the next week after that.

then i send the boards to hipro5, sky and johnny bravo and the rest of the boards to cirthix. the guys in europe should receive their boards between tuesday(11-8)to thursday(11-10).

cirthix should receive the boards at about that time as well. about how long it will take for the boards to ship from his place (hawaii) to the rest of the us, no idea... you gotta ask cirthix that.

what is a paypal address?
what do you mean? did you never hear of paypal?
www.paypal.com

so to sum it all up:

10-27 boards bought
10-28 cirthix paypals me the money for the us boards
10-28 i book the money to my bank account
10-29 wait for paypal
10-30 wait for paypal
10-31 wait for paypal
11-01 wait for paypal
11-02 money arrives on my bank account (paypal takes 3-4work days for this  )
11-02 i pay the shop and send them a copy of the sent verification
11-02 they ship out the boards
11-03 i receive the boards and distribute them
11-04 i receive the boards and distribute them
11-05 boards enjoy their trip
11-06 boards enjoy their trip
11-07 boards enjoy their trip
11-08 boards should arrive (sky, because hes in germany too)
11-09 boards should arrive (cirthix hawaii +hipro5 greece +johnny bravo scottland)
11-10 boards should arrive (cirthix hawaii +hipro5 greece +johnny bravo scottland)
11-11 boards should arrive (cirthix hawaii +hipro5 greece +johnny bravo scottland)

how long it will take from cirthix to you is a question i cant answer... i expect 2-4 days, so you should all get your boards between 11-11 and 11-17.
so in 2 weeks from now.

you might get the boards around one week earlier if i ship them to you directly and send them via air mail, but it would cost you additional 15€/20$...

@detract,
from what i read here it's highly unlike that there's going to be another

this means cirthix cant send me the money right away because if you upload it from your bank account it takes 3-4 work days until it arrives on the paypal account.

so the money will arrive on wednesday to thursday and then they can send me the money! thats a nasty delay, so im probably going to ask my roomate to borrow me some money and i will pay for all the boards in advance then, so we dont have a delay and i receive and can ship out the boards as planned :)

pentium m bios being the 1006 release?

I heard the 1007 does not support the adapter, strange that they would take that support out of the latest and greatest bios, but anyway I do not need my 3 boards flashed if it saves you time. These boards will be tested with northwoods, so I can flash them later.

Just wanted to clarify that, if your flashing all of them go for it, however, you do not need to open 3 of them for me.

this means money should arrive on monday-07/tuesday-08 on my bank account... thats next week...
so i will try to pay for the boards this week though by lending money from a friend.

as you know i made a deal for 20 boards with the shop, later they managed to get some more boards and put them on ebay. i bought all boards that were left, wich was 9. but the price was 97€ and not 88€ again...

i had hoped that they would be nice and give me those extra boards for 88€ too, but i wasnt sure... i talked to them today and got it confirmed, they will cost only 88€ as well! :)

the guys from that shop are really nice :)
they will call me as soon as they get more boards :D

but it doesnt look good... its not impossible though!
so if you really want one subscribe to this thread and maybe there will be a second wave of boards comming :)

P4GPL-X is available. One could do a vdimm mod + PSU with adjustable rails and voila - no need for extra RAM slots for booster. Not sure about other features vs P4gd1.

that's pretty good, 70-90 Euro's....

The Ram performance etc is mutch better om P4GD1. The P4GPL-X is a sort of "light" version, but easy to get, and not expensive.

This is a quote from "Tom Holck" from this thread...which board? (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1072065#post1072065)

Of course if the P4GD1 is gone then the other is the second best choice.. :)

hey you guys, does someone know a droop-mod for p4gd1 ? the voltages arent really stable , they are changing all the time ... some friend of mine (from hardwareluxx) took a multimeter and looked after vcore messure point on board. he found that the vcore drops (0,1v !!!!) in the moment the cpu will be used 100% (for e.g. prime or superpi .. )

maybewe have to work out a vdroopmod for p4gd1 if there isnt anyone existing..

p4gd1 can run some nice bus speeds with little effort. I really like my board and wish I hadn't sold my backup :)
Cool air with 780m and hyper6 hsf
win2k and no maxmem tweak:
http://pic8.picturetrail.com/VOL256/1324330/8242801/118190759.jpg

Default gtx clocks:
http://pic8.picturetrail.com/VOL256/1324330/8242801/118190763.jpg
275 bus speed with 3850+ would be pretty serious for 3d.

Once you guys start to get your boards....post up your highest bus oc's for 2d and 3d.

it's the only way to lower the multiplier on gd1(eist)

I think the mobo is good for a daily use,but for benchies is quite slow..875 is definitely better. BUT if u need pci-e and dothan..fortunately I don't :D

so wait you cant change multy in bios then it means you dont have to boot 17x200 in the case you have 780pm? AS far as i now 17 would be the only multy available in bios. And it would be a problem booting @3.4g on air. So how are you booting 17x what? and how you getting 1:1 kingpin?

k|ngp|n
11-10-2005, 07:26 AM
This particular 780m needs sub zero evap temps to boot up at 3400mhz (200x17). Not happening on air or cold water even.
For air overclocking and reaching high bus speeds in general, the trick is finding the right combination of pci-e frequency and bus speed for booting into windows.... as well as getting higher clocks to fly with clockgen adjustments. I wouldn't want to spoil the fun. It's not too tough to figure out.

I plan on testing the board on my p4 3.2e (sl7b8 which can do the 14 or 16 multi :D ). Does anyone know, will the p4gd1 have the option to switch those multipliers like the P4C800 and IC7-G did ?

I guess that was some special bios code manipulating speedstep or something like that, would be nice if the gd1 did the same thing.

you don't necceseraly need to boot at 200
u should go something like 160*17 to boot then lower the multi with eist and raise the fsb with clockgen..
Asus will release another bios for the board, let's pray for the best :)

oooo, dude, you gotta post pics drooolllllll. the i915 is a good chipset, i think they are referrig to its lack of pat (i dont think it has pat, but i hope i'm wrong).

on dothans, there isnt a set bunch of pins for the multiplier control like on axps, its in the registers of the chipset iirc.

iirc dothan does have pins to assign multipliers and core and fsb, just like any other cpu as well. the question is whether modding them will have any effect... but it should work...

U don't have pat ,u can't touch the alfa timings, bios must be improved.. I mean the board is good for a kickass gaming macchine(dothan+latest VGA on Pci-e rocks) or daily use.

hmmm well then p4 doesnt have pins for multipliers either.
i compared the functional pins of a penitum 4 and a pentium m about 2 years ago when i started working on a pentium m adapter :D
http://members.dodo.com.au/~cameron111/projects/viewer_originated/1a_pm_to_p4_framgen_main.htm
i looked at the pin layouts i made back then and couldnt find any multiplier pins, so i guess your right :/

and maybe we dont need a spam compaign, maybe we can just get the bios modded by tony and the multi option unlocked :)

bad news, shipping the 11 boards to cirthix is more complicated than we thougt.
11 boards are around 17Kilos, a box between 10 and 20 kilos to the us costs 60€. thats the price we calculated with. BUT it turns out that this is shipping via ship! wich means it would take some weeks :/

to make it go via airmail it would cost another 64€ extra, so 124€ for shipping those 11 boards. thats around 8$ more shipping for each board...

now i checked the weight and the boards alone actually only weight around 700gr each, so thats 8 kilso for just the boards... this means i could put all the boards wrapped in this air-bag foil and put them in one box and itll most likely be eblow 10kg.

10kg to the us costs 30€ and 67€ via airmail... so that would be the same shipping cost cirthix and me already calculated with, BUT you wouldnt get the cables and manual and wouldnt get the original asus mainboard box either...

i can probably send a few cables in case somebody really needs them, but overall almost everybody would have to agree that they get no cables/manual/asus mobo box.

if 10 or 9 people say its ok, then i will send the boards without cables manual and asus mobo box, wich would mean no extra shipping.
if more than 1-2 people want the cables etc, then itll be around 8$ extra shipping for each mainboard.

to keep this simple, if you dont care about the cables etc, then dont do anything, if you would rather want the cables manual mobo box, then please pm cirthix about this.
that way we can quickly check if there are more than 2 people who would prefer the cables :)

to make this decision as easy as possible for you i made pics of what we are actually talking about here:
4 sata cables, 2 pata cables, one floppy cable, one (heavy :D) manual, one cd, one case sticker (ill send you the sticker either way :D) one printer port thing and one usb/firewire/game port blade thing... :D

now the good news!!! :D
i asked cpulloverclock about the 865/875 chipset tweaker (like the a64 tweaker but for intel) and he said franck from cpuz actually wrote it. franck is a friend of me and i asked him about it, and he liked this group order idea and said he will support us by writing an app to tweak the p4gd1 boards in windows :woot:

it would actually be a 915 tweaker and will probably work with other 915 and maybe even 925 boards as well :)

Well, the good news is great! AND the bad news isn't too bad , besides IO shields who really cares about the other crap? The USB/ serial port might be usual for some peeps, but other than that I think we'd all be fine.

Manual, I assume can be downloaded as well as drivers.

just to clarify Saaya, this is only affecting the US side of the operation, or will the weight issue also affect us european customers ?

saaya
11-14-2005, 07:18 AM
no, im sending your boards all one by one, and the weight for a single box is 2kg max and a board doesnt weight that much :)

boshuter
11-14-2005, 07:42 AM
Either way doesn't matter to me. I'd pay the extra shipping if people want the full package but I don't care for myself. I would like to have the IO sheild, allthough I probably won't be using it either.

The only thing that concerns me is the packaging, it seeml like it's going to be a LOT of trouble for you to package that many mb's well enough to prevent damage without the original boxes. You've done a great job with this so far, so I'll go with your decision.. :toast:

Who cares about the cables, you can find them at any computer shop. The english version of the manual is downloadable from the asus website (I already downloaded a copy and started reading it :D). Thanks a lot saaya and cirthix for everything, you guys own! Nice pics :)

oh and for all people pming me :P
those boards are all already sold!
read the thread, i ordered them for members of this forum, im not selling them :) im just hooking them up with a local shop who had some of the last stock of theese boards :D

I may have found another source for P4GD1s in Germany but since I don't read or speak German, I can't be sure if they actually have them in stock. If you end up getting any from this store, could I please buy one from you for my trouble? Please?

it's the only way to lower the multiplier on gd1(eist)

Shouldn't you be able to use RMclock to lower multi with this board? Or maybe even centrino hardware control... it's basically the same chipset as the sonoma.

Well, I'd really like to have the I/O shield, and the SATA cables would be nice, since I'd pay more than 8 bucks for 4 of them, and I have none.

The manual I don't particularly care about (I've got the PDF), nor the CD, and while the USB / game port thing would be nice to have, it's not overly important.

However, I do share boshuter's concerns: how much do you trust the shipper to get those across the ocean in one piece if they're not packed in the boxes?

cirthix
11-15-2005, 12:44 AM
i think if saaya puts the mobos in boxes and just takes out the manual and stuff (but leaves i/o shield), we can make the shipping cutoff. i'll talk to him about it and i share your concerns about shipping the mobos outside of their retail boxes.

btw, i told those guys about the p4gd1 stock in russia and they just laughed really loud :D i thougt maybe they had a good relation or connection to some russian reseller or trader or anything, but appearently you have to have really good connections to export and import with russia... and even then you still have to pay a err... import... export..."fee"... to err... I can also confirm that and there is no problem booting with FSB below 200 and increase it in Windows using ClockGen. Just remember that ClockGen is showing an insanely high PCI and PCI-E frequency which is not the actual speed. :)

Whether that meant he was waiting for confirmation on the boards he had sent out to people (if so, none of which have been mentioned on the first post. eg- a 123 next to peoples names.). Or whether it meant he was waiting for boards to come in to him.

This combination of the P4GD1 and the P M chip has fascinated me for months. I have a new 770 and the Ct-479 sitting here along with a Lian Li PC 70 case to put it in. Just need the Mb and the ram and we're good to go.
never realized how difficult it would be to find this MB. Asus USA told me that they had made the dcision not to sell this board in the US or Canada but I couldn't get a reason from them as to why. I searched the "world" and finally found one in Zagreb,Croatia and since I actually have a friend there, he went and bought it for $112.00 US. Then called both DHL and UPS to see what it would cost to ship it to NH. Are you sitting down? Do you have your heart pills nearby? $207.00 from UPS and $277.00 from DHL!
My buddy there finally went to the local church and a visiting missionary is carrying back here in early December. Damn the things we do to get what we want.
