Great job team. I'm setting up and extra rig for D2OL and will hopefully get maybe 2 vmwares working on it (only 128mb ram, so dont know how much 2 vmwares + d2ol will take up). I'm having a tough time holding some of these people off. I may need to get more comps going. BTW, when will u be done moving altogether?

Hmm with only 128mb you will have some fun, it will work but tweak that OS with services and make sure the VMs are set to swap rather than use physical memory.
Well Im all moved computer wise, but its work thats going to be changing, Im fed up with doing 150miles a day commuting, so Im leaving my job (other reasons as well) but that means a drop in D2OL and Dimes, but I will be on it as soon as I can. I need to get another job pretty sharpish or start working for myself. The important thing for me though is that I get to see my partner clare and son Zach everyday rather than just weekends. So money isnt everything......but it does help

Already got the OS set-up (made a slip-streamed version of win2k). Good to hear that your all moved and hopefully you'll get a new job soon.

after putting windows back on my laptop, i installed dimes on it. dont want to run d2ol because the fan is noisy, but dimes is great for it. hope to let it run 24/5 a week!

Well, I have a 24/7 dedicated machine running Dimes.. I don't think it can handle VM Ware though. It's a celeron something or other with 256 mb ram. Nothing on it but Dimes though. This machine I am on is 24/7 also but it is not mine (torn apart for wc project at the moment) so I cannot run VM Ware on it.. would have been nice though. It has a 2.4 Intel something or other with 1GB of ram.

With that firepower BB you should be running both D2OL and Dimes :)
[XC]thewildblue
10-21-2005, 01:13 PM
Hey BB just whack on Dimes plus a couple of VMs if you have the RAM. Dimes runs nicely alongside D2ol/FAH. You could be in the top 5 overall in production in no time with some VMs. I made top 3 with about 30 instances of dimes running on various machines, not all 24/7.

2500+ a day with 1 rig?
How do you do that?
I installed dimes on 4 rigs, from which 3 are running 24/7, along with D2OL. I only produce about 4000/day.
Are there any tweaks known for dimes?
heater918
10-31-2005, 12:11 PM

Ok, sorting the stats by todays production so far, we have (If I counred correctly), 8 users in the top 50, and 14 in the top 100. Not bad for a relatively young team.
Remember, that's sorting by todays production, not sorting overall Production.

Can't say I did... Just put my disc in, copied the disc to a virtual CD-Rom, ran it, put my Windows disc in when prompted, setup VMWare tools when asked, and that was it. Then cloned the machine a feww times (Linked clone is fastest).
One of the installs things i've done. Considering it's running an OS within an OS 4 times, I'm impressed at how easy it really was.
Anyone think we need a "Help me with VM's" or "Post your VM Questions here" Thread as a sticky?
[XC]thewildblue
11-05-2005, 12:01 AM
Yeah just install as any other app. Then I always install from an ISO image as its faster and then copy over the vm image to a different folder and create a new instance. Saves doing loadsa installs.
If a few of us feel the need for a VM sticky I will get one up. I think its a good idea.

Yeah.. down still, three days of this. I am getting annoyed wasting processing power. I just shut down the program altogether this morning on the three boxes and gave the 24/7 box a break. I go on vacation next week so if this is still a nightmare when I leave, I am done with it. I will move on to a different project where I can make a difference. If I come back after eight days and see the same error message repeated I would throw my computer out the 3rd story window. I get easily annoyed at that. LOL

You can always join the D²OL team if you would like to join a different project :)

Dimes is best run as a secondary project in conjunction with something like D2OL. Dimes doesnt take up CPU power but uses your NIC more. Dimes does go down quite a bit.
Demon install D2ol and give that a try between the 2 projects you can amass quite a score !

Wow, what a waste of CPU cycles today. You know, when their :banana::banana::banana: goes down like that, they should give you points based on your avg. Its certainly not fair and ruins peoples motivation when its their :banana::banana::banana:up and they dont do anything to compensate. They should program an option in to store the data on your machine and allow you to dump so you dont lose points.

Ive got some good news. Seems Ive been a bit of a wally, I was wondering why my production was so low and it seems my 5 VMs on my xeon were configured with my old IP range before I moved.....so I should have a bit better production now !

I've been checking the stats at free-dc several times today and it looks to me as no points have been added for the last 10-12 hours although dimes works fine, no problems with connections whatsoever.
Anyone knows what's going on this time?

You guys are kicking butt. Just a few thousand points separates XSD from Crunchers Inc. in daily production. Their top producers are insane though.. I mean, how many can they be running? Way to go though considering no one here has 50+ ghosts running all over the place. :)

How far off are we? If those running VM's can add another agent, then we could easily make up the difference....

if only all the D2Ol'ers would dime, we would be kicking everybody's but! :woot:

I was considering installing MS Virtual PC and running another agent or two but I leave tomorrow on vacation and God forbid my system springs a leak and I come home to find the apartment has burned down somehow. They may kick me out of the apartment complex after that one.

I lost a machine the other day. My old DFI NF3 754 rig took a :banana::banana::banana: on me. Looks like the MB took a dump, which is surprising. Its been up for 11 months straight. Looking to get a replacement 754 board and an inexpensive 939 board since i got a 3200+ 939 venice laying around. Knocked my points down :slapass:

And I've cranked mine up. gone from 10K to 20K a day.
Will have to stop VM's for a few days in the near future. I keep meaning to do a mobo change, and other bits n bobs, and I've got to get off my arse and do it.
Hopefully, we can step up by 20K+ a day and stay above Crunchers Inc in the dailies.

I think people will silently step up production. Hell, ive already seen it in the last week.. shouldnt take to long to overtake AT

Mines up and down like a yoyo atm, with all 6 agents running should be up in the 20's each day, but housemates keep turning one of the PC's off, running 3 agents. Getting to be a bit of a joke tbh, despite being told to leave it alone, they still keep switching it off :(
Didint notice thismorning, so my productions gonna be none existant pretty much all day, with only 2 agents running :(

Got a question :
One of my rigs is having some problems.
After dimes starts up, it suddenly shuts down after 20-30 minutes. Even after restarting it, the same things happens, shutdown after a short period.
If I now uninstall the client, do I have to pay attention to something if I reinstall it? I assume that I have to make sure that the Agent Name is the same as prior to uninstalling it?

Ya just remember the Agent Name and when you reinstall it select the option that it was already installed on this computer and select that same Agent Name, that's about it.

Two motherboards are in route and verizon FIOS is going to be installed the 21st. I wonder if the speed of your connection will increase your points? If thats the case, look out.. 2 MB/15 MB coming down the pipe in less than 2 weeks!

Problem still persists.
I uninstalled it several times, same for Java, but still the same thing.
I searched the Dimes forums, tried some of the tips posted there but nada.
Crap.
I don't get it. The rig ran fine for about 1 week and now this.
Guess it will be 1 rig less for the project.

Nope, haven't done any updates over the past 2 weeks.
I did an update on my xeon rig last week, and dimes still works fine on that one.

My XPs have been fine. Well when I get some time I will remove java and Dimes and do a complete re-install. I know its not d2ol causing it as Im running FAH on one of the rigs.

does it mean anything when all of my windows XP machines have all green text in the messages window, but my windows 2000 machines have blue text in the messages window that would say
