I know one of the ways to solve this problem is to install a ServicePack2 equipped WindowsXP CD on it.
The client doesn't have windowsXP with any service pack built into it, it just a standard version 2002.
When he installed this Maxtor 200GB in his brand new A64 system, the windowsXP installation indicates it only as max size of 130GB. How can you fix this problem without having WinXP SP2 CD? I know there are ways... i forgot... Help please? :D

Install it as a 130 and resize the partition afterwards once SP2 is on with partition manager or something similiar... no biggie :)

no, windows cannot change active paritions without deleting data, partition magic is what I use but there are freeware utilities out there as well.

yea that's what i thought too... This client guy is very general user so he has no idea how to use any partition magic programs..
Is there any other way?.. Even though he now has SP2 installed on it, what if he formats it again and install winXP v.2002... Do you think the system will read it at 130GB or 200GB? I haven't tried this yet so im asking :D
If nothing else, I'll have to tell him to use the Partition magic...

You can do it if you slipstream SP2 into the original files and make a new CD. moving a partition is easier.

yes i've told him about the slipstream SP2 & winXP too but he doesn't wanna do it cause he says it's too confusing..:D I don't blame him though. I'm lazy too :D
I'll tell him to use Partition Magic.. Thank you Ugly n Grey. I appreciate it. :)
