Hi all,
This is a fresh install of Windows XP that installed beautifully, but the system will not boot without the Windows XP CD inside the CDROM.

I installed this system last weekend. It does detect all drives without any problems, but BIOS stops at Boot from CD: and then it just gives me the message DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

I tried changing the SOFTBIOS as per specifications found on this forum. It said to change the AGP ratio to Fixed and then change the AGP/PCI frequency to 66/33, but nothing happens.

I think this has got to be a BIOS error since the MB works perfectly once it boots off the CD. The funny thing is, the system is not even booting from the CD itself, but just needs it to boot from the HD.

I will tell you more about the system so that you can help me better. IC7-G mobo

either the boot sector of the hd needs to be wiped or your booting from the wrong source. i never had this problem till i switched mobos and i ended up low leveling my maxtors with there tools.

you didnt by chance have a bad install or error before this install did you?

Hi,
I isolated the problem. I am using a RAID PCI card (IDE) and for some reason, the board wants to boot from the master CD rom attached to it. Although the boot sequence in the BIOS is set up to my Maxtor master...
Weird.....

The BIOS on the PCI controller represents a SCSI address to the BIOS and gets first priority.

Hi, thanks for the update.
Is there any way to go around that in the BIOS so the board will boot from the Maxtor?

What PCI controller is it? you can usually turn off the BIOS on the card or change to a higher address.

It is a Sabrent card that uses Silicon Image chip. How could I turn off the BIOS on the card?
Thanks

Hi,
Do you happen to have a modded bios for this MOBO?
Thanks

I have a modded BIOS posted in another thread for download for this board. I don't know if it will fix this problem. (I doubt it)

I haven't had a chance to look into the problem yet but I have it on my list of things, so be patient a bit :)
