2x512mb ram overclocks 50MHz less vs. 2x256

I have/had 2x256mb tccd ram that would pass superPI 1m at 310MHz and superPi 32m at 300MHz. My 2x512mb pass superPI 1m at 260MHz and superPi 32m at 250MHz. Timings were 2.5-3-3-x T1 for both. I can get around 275MHz with 2x512 if I run T2 but this is slower than 250MHz with T1. Using any 4's in the timings doesnt really gain oc and just kills performance. Maybe some of you have really good ondie controllers but this is what mine does. People say 2x512mb at ddr500 is faster in games than 2x256mb at ddr600 and I hear people raving about 2 gigs of ram even though ill be lucky to be able to run 200MHz with 2.5-3-3-x T1. I think 1 gig is more than enough. 2 gigs is just way too slow and games dont need this much ram despite what some think.

It's almost as if you've never been here before, and with everyone one of your posts, is your first visit. :stick:

Um, ever heard that not all sticks overclock the same. You apparently have a below average gig set of TCCD, as most do above 275MHz. If you've ever been to this forum before, you should have seen hundreds of people showing off 2x512MB TCCD doing 300MHz+ speeds, 2.5-4-4-7 or tighter 1T.

Whatever is holding you back, the point you garnered from it is irrelevant and nonsensical.

In the end, seriously, why the hell are you ranting this to us?

Geforce4ti4200 I've seen some odd post from you lately including this one. I've always seen you as a very smart person with an incredible knowledge of hardware but lately you have posted some weird things. I'm not even sure if it is really you cause you seem so "different" :stick:

Are you sure you are alright :stick: You can always shoot me a PM if there is something you want to talk about :)

Buddy, you don't know GF4Ti if you're saying this haha... He's ALWAYS been like this.

I don't think so. He has always been a bit.. Different. A lot of wild guesses and stuff. But he has always known what he was saying, why he was saying it and so on. He has NEVER started a thread to tell us that his controller i weird and that he has no gains for 275 2T over 250 1t. The GF4TI i know would start ranting about new cpu's and stuff. This thread has absolutely no conclusion. And if there is something he has always had, that is conclusions.

I am miffled how much bandwith im losing with 2x512mb that its almost not worth it! I can get 275MHz but only with T2 command rate. I had a few lockups at 250x9=2.25 which is strange since its superPI 32m stable. Maybe I need to run async latency to 7 for all tccd ram? Ive tried it, doesnt help with oc but maybe with stability

Try 2Gb, see how that overclocks.... :D

Try 4x512Mb Value VX :p: :D

But seriously....banwith is overrated...it's synthetic..don't worry about it.

Umm I have a question you seem to be complaining about everything and you never ever ever say anything about your motherboard is it possible that that is holding you back? or you cooling, or your bios settings?

Also why exactly do you keep buying new cpus, ram and such but never really look at selling those old GPUs and motherboard and buying a x700pro(which I see selling for $100 used or 6600 vanilla which I have seen on sale for as low as $70, and a DFI NF4 which can be had used for $90 or so. Thats a mere $200 which you could probably get close to by selling your old stuff.

Give it a shot you will like it;)

By the way why don't you like p4s? My x600xt is getting close to your 8pipe 9500 score with a cheap 80 pelt and on a 915 chipset board that is only running at like 220FSB.

I posted a reply but it froze! Dont wanna type it all so ill be quick. Not interested in 128 bit graphics. my 9700 is 256 bits. no point in dfi nf4 when socket m2 is comming soon. p4s cost more and are slower. Post a link to your 3dmark 2001 score

Umm a 128bit x700pro is faster than your 256bit video card pretty much no matter what.

Also I have a question why are you saying that there is no point in the DFI? You will have to buy a PCI-e card anyway at M2 and on top of that DDR2 (ie intel ram) gasp when you go M2 so why not go partially there and experiance a faster computer?

I'll post a link as soon as I get one where it doens't give me the CPU speed is different you can't publish this project error. Probably thursday or Friday.

P4s used are extremely cheap it may be alittle more intial outlay but hey they clock like crazy, a 506 which costs $120 new is 64bit compitable, and a DFI 875p-t or AS-8 which go for anywhere between $70-$90 used will clock to 4.3ghz on stock cooling which most likely will take down a 3000 venice clocked to about 2.6ghz on stock air which seems to be the average using an NF3 chipset.

Oh yes finally what are you cooling this CPU with?
Can you post some A64 tweaker shots for both sets of ram?

Usually I read what you say and think wow spammer thats spamming past the point of having any reason to spam but this time I am going to say something please please please think of an inteligent presentation of your facts before making statements that to the best of my knowledge are almost always unique to you.
