I have an eheim 1250 and a mag3. I want to chill denatured alky with dry ice for my GPU. Will either pump work at say -70C or will they shatter?

I ran a mag3 under -40c but i don't think it'll do -70 :(

look into 12VDC hydraulic fluid pumps like those used on snowplows. They will move highly viscous liquids at very low temps. they are expensive however.

and most likely relatively low flow... but im sure they do pressure like mad.

...How expensive? If its hundreds I might as well have a tube machined lol

neither of those will like low temps i expect. the plastic will probably get very brittle which would probably be bad.
The brass impeller/impeller housing versions of the laing Dx series pumps can do mad low temps i think...

Hmm... Maybe I'll hold alky temps at -50c or so?

What's low flow? 14 US gpm low? It can only do that up to 1300Psi though....but they will do continuous operation.
That's about the smallest one you can buy. Bigger ones are faster of course.

Eheim 1046 should work fine..
Some german watercooling specialists use ln2 to cool the radiator..

@ afire. Of all pumps I have reviewed and checked out as I'm having the same dillemma (i need a -50F pump) this seems to be the only promising pump that i have found. I will be getting it shortly and testing it. it should fit perfectly in the center of my chillers coil to :)

Umm, i keep looking at this Harbor Freight pump. All stainless steel on the pump side, that should handle some low temps, and it would be cheap, maybe too cheap....

Ive seen Home Depot, most all the pumps I've seen are large sump pumps. None that are appropriate for a chiller.

I think the home depot pumps that most are using are found in home depots pond section. They sell pond pumps and pond supplies at some of their locations.

Not for use with fuel or flammable liquids. Includes mounting bracket.
12V DC, 65Watt, Amps: 7.5 start, 5 continuous;
I'll be skipping that pump...

Use a Fuel Pump! They could probily handle -100c and they have fine mesh filters built in. :D

So, did onyone found anything that proved to work good? I wonder if there are any nice Iwaki's that would go down that low. Or atleast to -50C
