I recieved the Arctic Silencer 5 revision 3 and found that the fan leads are reversed and make it so the fan will not work. Buyers beware you will have to cut and resolder the wires to the proper leads.

It could just be a bad batch.

maybe.. Maybe I'll get my money back.. haha
I should leave my temps so others can see.
Idle is about 36c with a well vented case. Load after a 3D marks 05 run was at 51c at peak, staying at 50c or below most the time.

Ummm....there are two ends to every wire. Instead of cutting these wires why don't you remove them from fan header and reverse them.

I didn't actually cut the wires, I was just giving a possible idea, I just turned the wires around. Saying I had to cut the wires made it seem more like a defective part lol.
After the AS5 was broken in my GPU idles at 32c and peaks at 51c. So you decide if it has bad contact.
I'm using revoltec copperheatsinks so I don't worry about the stock thermal pads.
Clocks with stock voltages are 545core 1385 memory before I get artifacts.

I had to reverse the leads to make the fan work, also the fan leads compared to the older fan are clearly backwards.

a bit off topic, but, i pulled the heatsink/fan off my 6800 oc, wiped the hardened paste off, put some artic silver ceramique on there and my temps went from 50/57 to 38/47. Its probably not as quiet, but the temps are hella lower and i could probably turn the fan down.

I used AS5 on everything... it even makes great tooth paste believe it or not..
