I updated to the 519 bios (from 422). Now I can't get the 14 multi to stick with my 840 es. I first noticed it when I got the bios loaded, I set my fsb to 300 and multi to 14 and booted to windows and was going to run a test run in pcmark05, when the app opened it showed my cpu at 4.8ghz  I opened cpuz and it showed everything fine at 4.2ghz X 14. I went ahead and started the bench and my system promptly crashed. I rebooted at a lower fsb (275 X 14) and opend cpuz, everything looked fine but once again pcmark05 showed my cpu speed at what it would be at 16 multi. I opened the Asus AI Booster and it showed my multi at 14 but reported the speed at what it would be at 16 multi??? I can set my multi at 16 in bios and bench pcmark05 at up to 4.4ghz and super pi 1m at a little over 4.6ghz, I just can't get it to hold the 14 multi and the only app that shows the correct settings is cpuz. Here is a screenshot to try to explain what I'm talking about. This new bios lets me oc more, but not being able to use the lower multi kills my fsb.

Look at what the Asus app shows as fsb/multi and what it says cpu speed is..... that don't add up :nono:

Stick with CPU-Z, AIBooster in my opinion needs a patch or something because I have the same thing happening with my system which I finally got it to boot at x14 and as you can see in the SS here: 250x14 (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/Nasgul/33c.png), AIBooster is giving the wrong speed (as if it were a x17) but CPU-Z red 3.5ghz, I've gone as high as 260x14 and plan a 300 but I need to get my CoolerMaster water cooling kit.

BTW, my CPU with a 250x17 idles at 41c: SEE IT HERE (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/Nasgul/DDR21000.png), unlike the 250x14 which idles at 33c and fully loaded was 48c and as you can see AIBooster reports my 250x14 @ 4.2ghz but it's actually 3.5ghz.

Crap, let's all e-mail ASUS and ask them to patch up AIBooster for the new 0519 BIOS. :slapass:

Well that doesn't help much. The problem is it won't run at 14multi on this bios. The cpu is actually running at the higher clock speed as reported in the Asus app, not the lower one reported in cpuz. I didn't have this problem with the 422 bios, but it didn't have the microcode for my newer stepping 840.

Well, I see 290x14 (4.06) AIBoosters shows as if it were x16.
CPU-Z sees 290x14 and it reads 4.06. The only problem I see is AIBooter not reporting the correct speed the CPU is running at.

Just like in my case, 250x14 (4.2ghz) AIBooster shows as if it were x17.
CPU-Z sees 250x14 and it reads 3.5ghz. Same problem.

I don't think the CPU is running at the x16 multi, just AIBooster bug, just like in my case, I showed you my CPU @ x17 multi at 4.2ghz idling at 41c and getting as high as 52c-55c but when I got it to x14 for a 3.5ghz and AIBooster shows 4.2ghz yet my CPU idles at 33c and it got as high as 48c. I don't think your CPU is running at 4.6 with a x16 multi but the correct x14 that you set in teh BIOS, just AIBoosters bug.

I had a problem with my uGuru + CPU-Z, excpet it was a voltage error, cpu-z reported a 2.98v and uGuru was 1.28. So, if you asked me it's software related, AIBooster needs a simple patch which I e-mailed ASUS about that and gave them a few links where other people are having issues with their program reporting the wrong speed;

Such as this:

Shouldn't that CPU be fried by now? Keep OC'ing as high as possible, your FSB is not being killed.

LMAO.. then where did it go??? I had no problems running 310X14 with the 422 bios in any bench and higher in super pi 1m. Now I can't do 300X14 in super pi 1m. I can run a higher overall mhz if I use a 16 multi, but nothing using 14. The only thing that changed is the bios. Also, the Asus app is not the only one reporting the 16X speed when I'm using a 14 multi. Every app, Sandra, Futuremarks, etc. all report the 16X speed when I'm running 14multi.... CPUZ is the only one reporting the speed for 14 multi. This bios oc's very well, but if I'm limited to a higher multi and under 300fsb then it's pretty much junk.

I have exactly the same problem with my rig (in signature). Your right, Cpu-Z is the only utility that tells it like it is.
I can only get a 14x multi when I set EIST to "minimum" in bios using 630 cpu. When I reboot, Ai-Booster reports the correct clock/fsb speed for about 5 seconds, then reverts to its 15 x multi speed - despite the 14 x multi listed in Ai-Booster....WTF!

Something funny about 0519 bios and Ai-Booster + other 3rd party system measuring utilities EXCEPT Cpu-Z (v1.30). I notice Everest v2.2 and Sandra report the 15 x speed too.

There's no way my system could boot at 15 x 300mhz fsb on 1.58 Vcore and just sit in windows with nothing but background applications running... so even if Cpu-Z is wrong, the other utilities are most certainly wrong reporting 15 x multi speed.

Update: stuff this 0519 bios, I'm going back to the 0422 and use 15x multi... :)

Well I can't really use the 422 with this cpu, it doesn't have the microcode for it. Maybe I'll try the 509? Below is a ss running at 16multi 4.6ghz, if I set 14multi in bios I can't even run 4.3ghz

4.6ghz?!, if it runs stable there i wouldn't consider it as you're having a problem then m8

I guess we all have different ideas of what we'll settle for ;) There is definitley a problem with this bios and running the 14multi, or 15 for that matter... 4.6 at 16multi is ok, but the multi problem makes it pretty much useless. Intel cpu's and DDR2 need the high fsb, anything under 300 is not acceptable. I'll stick my 660 in and see if it does the same thing, if it does, I'm dumping this bios and going back to 422.

fair enough, let us know how it goes with the 660 on ;)

Yesterday i too tried the new bios and reverted back to 422... ;)

aibooster is wrong, pcmark is wrong. cpu-z is correct.
