Got my new toys from SHG the other day. And a little note..don't buy anything from them..their packing is really dull. I have trouble to understand how a mailorder company can do something like this.

Anyways..on to the fun part of it all. The benching.
I got it to run at 200x13 and memory in 1:1 and got this.

Super-Pi 512kb - 10 sec 1mb - 29 sec
PCMark04 4800

My other rig that is a P4 3Ghz clocked to 270FSB and memory at 5:4 got 4859 points so the Sonoma is pretty fast.
I only got it to run at 200FSB..higher than that it crashes. But I only have a crappy Codegen 300W that delivers +3,1v on the +3,3v line. Should have got a Hiper 520W but the mailservice here did a very good job in forgetting to send the package away. Hope to get alot better resulst when I get that psu.

Also using the stock fan with the CT-479 adapter and only mod on the motherboard so far is VDIMM but that didn't do much since the +3,3v line is crap.

I'll be back with alot better results in a while.
Everytip is welcome since I'm new to the ASUS boards..used ABIT for a very long time now.

Update 2005-10-18
Mounted a V7000 heatsink..the pictures says it all.

a swedish/danish mailorder company..as you can see..they suck at packaging.
www.shg.biz is the URL if you wont to check them out and tell everyone not to buy anything from them. got a new PSU now..will do some benching tomorrow, I'll be back with pictures and results.

really not..luckily no hardware was damaged..INTEL wasn't cheap on plastic around the psu..glad for that.
the store replied to my email today..the girl said that they were sorry about what happened at that she will tell the packers about it..yeehah ain't that something..told them that I know I'm not the only one that got this issue with them and that I will never buy from them again nor recommend them to any of my fellow overclockers in sweden...anyways..got the Hiper 520W psu today and a Zalman V7000B-CU..tomorrow will be a bench day.

How does dothan (regular) do compared to this?? How does a dothan do @ 2.6ghz?

Isn't a Sonoma just a 533FSB Dothan? :/

Yes!!

yes thats right..the core on 533fsb is Sonoma and Dothan on the 400fsb
will start to bench in a little while now...check back in an hour or to.

I always referred to both of them as Dothan. Isn't the core basicly identical?

And as far as I know they are better clockers too

won't be any clocking today either..the psu I got is broken..when I put in the powercord it starts the fans and the diode on the motherboard blinks very fast along with the HDD led and powerled on the case. have to get another one.
I'll let you look at the pictures I took when mounting the Zalman V7000 heatsink for now..check the first post for pics.

Sonoma is a platform, and not a CPU...

Carmel = Centrino I = Banias + Odem + Intel ProWireless B/G
Sonoma = Centrino II = Dothan + Alviso + Calexico
Napa = Centrino III = Yonah + Calistoga + Gaston

after a few hours of ocing I found the max clock for the rig with this hardware.
I mounted it in my other case where my P4 used to be..now I run on a TT Purepower 480W psu and with 2x512MB KHX3500 and a Gainward 5900 Ultra.
I can't get any higher than 212*13 or 230*12. I have to check the psu when I get a multimeter to see if it is stable on the 3,3v line that gives power to my RAM. I have my doubts about it. The RAM runs at 1:1..can't go higher with dividers so I guess this is the max I get out of my processor.

here is the best Super-Pi score so far.

Now I will try to see what boost in 3DMark03 this baby does.
If I don't beat my own WR I'm going to be dissapointed.
I'll be back with scores in a little while.

well the 3DMark03 score I got was low..but the clock on the gpu was not so great this time..have to put a fan to blow on the rams so I can clock it further..but that have to wait til tomorrow..I'm to tired for more benching now. Ran a quick round of 2001SE and got 23886p against 21353p on the P4 clocked to 4,1ghz
here are the URLs for 2001SE
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8674770 - P4
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8758904 - Sonoma
If you check the details u'll see that the P4 score had a higher clock on the GPU.

but now some sleep and more benching tomorrow.
