Ok,
I have a Barton 2800 which OC's to 2375 on air so far. A P4 2.6c, and I also can get an Intel 820, for almost nothing. I also have been looking at a 3200+ Venice, or a 939 Opteron 146. What would be my best option of these for having the fastest sytem possible and an extreme overclock of course?
Thanks,

OPTERON
of course. OC's a mile better than the rest, 3ghz is ALMOST a given.

Even over the Intel 820 dual core? I can get that with a copy of windows, and an Intel mobo for 215 bucks.

However much I like the Intel, I'm ashamd to admit you probably would be happier with the Opteron with the cooling method you're using. I know they've done some insane things with Intels w/ LN and DI, but with air/water cooling... I think AMD still holds the torch.
Don't let that stop you though - buy Intel anyway.

The 820 will give a reasonable OC and at that price I'd do it in a heartbeat. You can always change later when you have more loot, but you will get a bump. Recall both vid card makers are building their drivers to run faster on dual core, not single cores.
