This monitor is sweet. Well worth the money over a standard format screen. It's probably about 45% of the screen real estate of my 27" tv. A little less than full width and a bit more than half the height. But I can't help but think... good god, the 2405fpw must be 'huge'!
Questions...
1. Do I need to install any sort of driver or just leave it as a Plug n Play monitor?
2. How can I tell if I have the "backlight leak" issue?
3. Packers left fingerprints on my screen. What is the best and safest method of cleaning it?

If you watch a widescreen dvd and the background is black, you'll see grayness coming from the corners of the screen. But when you're doing daily tasks such as browsing the web, you really won't see it. It's only noticeable on black backgrounds.
edit: also the blacklight usually gets worse as time goes by, you might notice it a week later like i did. Then again I had the first batch. I replaced my 2005 about 3 times, then finally gave up and returned them all back.

I haven't noticed any yet and I'm pretty sure it's got no pixel issues. So knock on wood.

You can safely clean the surface of a flat panel with a dab of windex that you sprayed on a paper towel.... I have the one of the first NEC flat panel monitors ever shipped to a consumer (they were trying to win my business at the time, they also flew me to a KISS concert in Montreal from Vancouver :)) you can imagine how many hundred of times I wave wiped it with Windex and it's still perfect many years later (Jeebus... that's a lot of years!!!) They tell you not to of course but it removes fingerprints so well.... I use it on my LCD TV panels too, never noticed a problem. Note I never spray in on the surface, I always spray it on the cloth.
You can download the monitor driver from Dell, the only thing you will gain is a better matched colour scheme. Great if you do some serious photo printing etc.. it's generally a tiny download and well worth it.
On another note, BEAUTIFUL MONITOR..... Huge thumbs up I am green with envy.....

I got mine over the summer. It's nice but looks grainy compared to my old cheap CRT. Not a big deal since widescreen revolutionizes your life :D
How long is the warranty? Mine has 2 dead pixels and backlight bleeding AND my XS logo wallpaper has seemed to have burnt into the screen. And I also get lines down the monitor sometimes (wtf?) My parents has a dead pixel and well, maybe some bleeding to.

I'm not really an LCD fan, but I may have to give in and buy one of these panels at some point. But until then, I'm happy with my CRT. :)
