ok, here is the issue ...

1) Asus A8n SLI PREMIUM complains "System failed VGA test"

2) I ask a friend to bring over his memory, vieo card whatever he can

3) Install his card, system contiunues "System failed VGA test"

4) Install his memory, system contiunues "System failed VGA test"

5) Back to my memory and video card, system contiunues "System failed VGA test"

6) Then it comes to me, add his card in 2nd sli slot, yess! system boots normally
So 2ith 2 cards and all my parts psu seems to still work fine!

7) Take off his card, move mine to 2nd sli slot, yess! system boots normally

8) Does anyone agree to the conclusion that the motherboard 1st sli slot has
somehow crapped out? Hence i need a mobo rma?

I dont know anything about SLI really, but could it be possible that the 2nd slot only works when the 1st slot is already filled ?

(maybe im reading your post wrong, but you have only 1 card normally right?)

thank you for your reply.

Normally when only 1 card is available, only sli slot 1 is used, then i get the error message on boot. If i don't use sli slot 1, and i use sli slot 2 (obviously not in sli mode) then there is no issue.

My system was fine with my card in sli slot 1 untill Saturday night. Since then i am troubleshhoting. There is no reason why there should be a card in slot 2 for slot 1 to operate.

Try disabling the PEG Link option in the BIOS.
