This is a bone stock Sapphire X850XT PCI-E card sitting in my P180. I can't get the core to go over 533mhz or else it'll have artifacts and hangs my system during 3DMark03. Mem, I can go all the way to 621mhz without any problem.

What can I do beside cooling? I mean, even stock, I should get better result than that right?

Thanks guys.

I've never try that. I'll do that later today. I'd never thought of that but seems like it. The temps go up to 70C during benches very easily.

70c is not THAT hot for this card. IMO your problem is that the fan speed dosen't match the temperature. Get ATI Tool and use the overide fan speeds option and put it to 100% (loud but just for testing) If you are going to remove the fan, make sure you put back good quality thermal paste like as5 don't reuse the one on the core.

I did manually set the fan speed to full speed. That's how I was managed to get to 533 core. I'll have to try to reseat it with some AS5. Hopefully I'll have time to do it today. :)

so are you going to vmod the card?

I'll see if the cooling would help first. If it doesn't help much, I'll mod it. But not in the near future. Prolly later as I'd need to assemble my Blue system first. Barely have time :(

Why did you post this thread in Xtreme Graphx Vmods then?
