My envision 18 inch LCD with a 25ms response time has quite. I HATED the smearing/ghosting it had in most all games.

I have about $390usd to spend, and have to order it from Newegg.com

I need the best LCD I can get for the money... gaming is the top priority so I pretty much want the least amount of ghosting possible. 17 inch is the minimum size, 19 inch would be great.

What do you guys suggest?

Also, I'm not switching back to the CRT, even if they are the best for hardcore gamers. My eyes just cannot handle them anymore.

:D

start by reading THE guide.

I have already read "THE" guide. ;)

I must say I am still very lost. I liked the 19-inch Hyundai LCD in the guide which is within my price range, but from reading reviews on Newegg, it seems that almost 1/2 of the people who have bought them within the past few months either have been bad out of the box, or developed horizontal lines shortly, and some have developed it after over 30 days of use. I think this is probably why Newegg is having a sale on it.

I really like this 19-inch Viewsonic VX924 LCD. It seems to generally get good reviews from what I've read. It is supposed to be geared for gamers, which is what I want. Some say that the colors aren't quite as vibrant as they are on other (usually more expensive) LCD's... but I'm sure anything will be an improvement over my dead Envision or this old 17-inch IBM CRT I am using.

What do you guys think?

I think it looks pretty good. ViewSonic's been a pretty solid company from what I've seen. 6ms response time is pretty spiffy and will definitely eliminate that ghosting. From there, the contrast ratio is about on par with what you get from an average monitor at that speed... so I say go for it.

The $2.50 instant online savings bugs me though. I mean really, what is $2.50 on a $360 purchase? If they had offered $3.60 at least then you could be content knowing you got a 1% deal off retail...

Thanks for the input. The monitor looks like about the best I can get for the price.

I will wait until Monday to order. I need as many opinions as I can get! :D

I just grabbed the Samsung 930bf a couple weeks ago as there was $75 worth of rebates running on it (check out samsung, compusa, and best buy as they were each offering their own rebate on top of samsung's recently). Samsung claim 4ms response time , although I have no way of telling.. I've got poor vision and don't game a whole lot, but I absolutely love it. Just running 2001se , I can instantly see the refresh speed boost over my previous monitor, the NEC LCD 1830.

Nice looking LCD... but I'm afraid it is a tad out of my price range. :(

I can't find it anywhere for 350-ish
