hehe, lookie what showed up in the mail today.... :toast:

Maxxx, you were not kidding about the iwaki pumps...they definatly put out a tad more than my 1260 did :fact:

are you going to keep it mounted outside your case. Would it fit inside?

ah, i love my md20rzt.

i just need to paint it black like maxxx

yes its going to stay outside my case, the carpet helps dampen the slight humm from the pump.

Maxxx, do you think it would be ok to leave the 1/2" tygon tubing around the output barb? or should i get some bigger and get a reducer? i was able to make the tygon strech around the barb, but im not sure how it would be???

I'm using 1/2" Clearflex on Noldors MD20 and it works great... no worries..

if it strethces over it then its not a big deal.. it just makes a really nice tight seal.

Just curious, what do you have in your water? I kinda want to stay away from it, cause it looks doody brown. That just ain't healthy, yo.

Hehe...
it should be like that if you're using zerex rsc in your distilled water. i guess that's at least what he is using. you shouldn't use just distilled water. read the stickies before you decide to watercool!!!

doesnt the iwakis add alot more heat than comparable ehiem pumps?

I just use Distilled Water/Pentosin in my loop. Not the BLEEDING edge of performance...but not doody brown either. Oh well...(and yea...I did read the stickies)

Plague as it says in my sticky, the MD20 puts out around 15watts.. thats 5 less than the MCP655..

and there is no comparable eheim pump to the Iwakis.. atleast not one of any usable size...

Maxxx, i think my new iwaki is running hot...i can only keep my hand on it for less than 8 sec :). is this normal???

what is the best thing to use to clean the gunk out of the inside of my tygon tubing? there is this slight film of some greish crap on the inside of my tubing

MaxxxRacer
10-10-2005, 06:19 PM
yes that is normal.. its running great.. the more heat the case is outputting the less is going into the water.

ahh the slime.. strong detergent and a toothbrush/pipe cleaner.. I havnt been able to find a single chemical that you can soak the tubing in that will be rid of the slime.

whats the slime from? ive only used straight distilled water and just a tad of water-wetter. so im kinda baffled on where this slime is comming from...

Yea mine ran really hot too until I stuck my rad next to it so the exhaust fans are pointing right on the pump... runs A LOT cooler now :woot: .

One Hertz has the right idea.. doing what he did will decrease the heat dump even further... the heat dump i measured with the MD20 was without any active cooling andi t was 14.5watts.. now imagine the MD20 with active cooling..

it's the water wetter...and that is the reason most people don't really like it

Eheim 1046, adds around 1.5W of heat to the loop
Eheim 1048, adds 3W of heat
Eheim 1250, adds 9W of heat
MCP600, adds 8W of heat
MCP650, adds 15W of heat
Iwaki MD-15R @ 60Hz, adds 22W of heat
Iwaki MD-20RZ @ 60Hz, adds 31W of heat
Iwaki MD-30RZ @ 50Hz, adds 50W of heat

tested it twice.... Cathar agreed with me on all of it... i think he has since adjusted his values.

50% is a whole lot for a guy like cathar to be off on....

who knows.. but if you use the search function you can read about Stew and I chatting about the heat dump of my WMD-20RLT

Bloody_Sorcerer

thats a fairly old thread (almost a year old) and maxxx did his testing over the summer i think, and cathar's numbers are the ones in the iwaki spec sheets

I had and measured the Iwaki MD-30RZ, and the 50W value stands.

The MD20RZ and MD15R were extrapolated values based upon the Iwaki datasheets and my measurements for the MD30RZ.

OOO ic....

the WMD30-RZ i measured was around 45 watts... so pretty close..

Plus, I thought it was determined the Z will dump more heat as it is operating near optimal p/q levels where the non Z gets squelched and operates closer to dead heading.

hmm.. thats very well possible nik... I will have to find a way to run Noldors MD20RZ 220volt... just need to find a 220volt line in my house....

if my 220V AC meddling doenst work out, and i stop posting on the forums.. well just assume that i roasted myself...

pull off the two bus bars in your main circuit panel.

if this is something out of your league perhaps you shouldn't be wiring relays?

MaxxxRacer

I just dont like AC..

I wire this kind of stuff for DC all the time.. just not a fan of AC as its WAY more complicated and considerably more dangerous.

I will prolly just grab the plug in the washer/dryer room as there is a 220volt line.. just gotta get a plug for it and wire it up to the pump.. Kinda need to do this anyway as I need to leak test Noldors rig.
