Hey guys,

I'm getting that horrible urge to tweak my voltage a bit...

I went to 1.775v and managed to climb past the 700 Mhz mark (X850XT non PE), but I'm SOOOO close to breaking 8k in '05....

Watercooling with Silverprop HL, temps under load around 38'C @ 1.7v and 650 Mhz core (24/7 speed).

More to the point, has anybody KILLED an X850XT core with voltage?

I'm ASSUMING they are fairly hardy, since they are 0.13 micron, like the Mobile XP chips, which IIRC, were default Vcore 1.6 and safe to 2.1v? That gives an equivalent of 1.84v on the X850XT core in theory.

I killed a Venice (0.09 micron) with 1.8v (I think), but that is a much smaller process.....

I killed one with 1.7V on water....never artifacted. Just refused to switch to 3D mode. I keep mine new X850XT PE at 1.65v now. This was at full load of 40-42C.

Woh!

That sucks!

Thanks for the heads up though!

EDIT - Did it die as soon as you turned the volts up, or during a game / bench or did it die slowly? Was it PE or non-PE? What did you have the core clocked to?
