The best noise/performance level has Thermaltake BigTyphoon. You should use search, we discussed it recently.

I chose a SI-120 over it because it's lighter. And you can NEVER go wrong with thermalright :)

My brothers, that is what I call BIG. It, probably takes third of space in the whole case :D .
Yeah... but is that cooler better than the Big Typhon? Results?

Big typhoon with default fan for everyday using.
If you need extra performance, put 12cm HIGH RPM fan and enjoy coolness.
You guys are making this choice hard for me! Anyway, it's great to get info from more users with different setups...

If low noise is a priority the BT should be top of the list! :)

If you want the safest choice, go with the zalman cnps-9500
-Quiet
-Lightweight
-Easy to install
-Excellent performance
-LED light
-It's a zalman :P
Big typhoon is slightly better in performance, and looks good too
-Ultra Quiet
-Hard to install
-Heavy

I have yet to see anything perform better than a XP90C with a good Delta or Tornado fan.
But wouldnt TT Big Typhoon perform better with those fans than an XP90?

I would imagine so...
Aren't Delta fans notoriously loud as well?

If you read the first post "QUIET" is mentioned in it. Deltas and tornados aren't quiet :stick:
BT is the way to go ;)

I didn't knew it when i first bought it. The next time i'll remove it and that won't be too long cause i'll upgrade to a 640 or 650 to get over 4ghz, i'll change the screws... :hammer:

I would vote for the Sonic Tower. In a COMPLETLEY fanless mode, it's the better one.
Ken can you post pics of your BIG TT I want to see how it's mounted. Thanks.
I cant take pix cus its inside the case and very difficult to take pix with camera fone :(

It took me about 4hours to mount the dam bt properly....
I was thinkin about different methods to mount it. What I did in the end was to use the stock plastic backplate of my dfi lanparty. I was too worried about those little transistors on the back which would have sufferd from the metal backplate which came with the fan.
But I used the long screws wich came with the Bt and set em up like its shown in the manual for the alternative method. I didnt think that the srews would be that long after tightening the nuts. Otherwise I would have put a metal plate on the back behind the stock plastic backplate. But it seems to be good like it is, so I am not touvhing this thing any more ;)
Thermalright SLK948U heavy weight champion uses "Bolt Thru" method

Ken thanks for the image. how long does the threaded bolt have to be and where can I pick up the rest of the items that I need for modifying my Big Typhoon?
I managed to track one of these babys down as they are no longer in production.
I could only reach 2.6Ghz with my X2 3800 + my temps were high at full load 60C - 62C
After installin this monster i can now boot 2.7Ghz and 2.8Ghz its full copper 635Grams you can choose so many different sized fans. I also own a XP-90 which is also good BUT nothin close to this one. The SLK-948U uses the "Bolt Thru" method so it makes a very good contact with the CPU.
Its deffinately worth checkin it out. All the moderators at DFI street own 1 or even 4 of these no joke!
My idle temps are 31C Load hovers 40C-45C X2 3800+@2.7Ghz
If you are really quick thiers ONLY 1 on ebay brand new boxed

Almost everything you nedd comes with the BT. You only need the springs and the plastic washers in case you want to set it up like ken showed with his picture.

I know that almost everything does come with the BT as I own one but don't I need to get longer bolts, springs, plastic washers, metal bars, thick sticky foam and think sticky foam? Where can i get those parts and what measurements (if applicable) in U.S. system? Thanks.

The sticky foam comes with the BT, it's the same shape as the mounting clips

Ok I thought it was necessary to get some "aftermarket" foam stuff. My bad.
Scythe Ninja (http://www.silentpcreview.com/Sections+index-req-printpage-artid-251.html) is very good, pretty big though. Not very easy to find in Sweden (http://buggy.nu/index.php?a=search&c=&m=&id=&q=scythe+ninja&price_min=&price_max=) yet.

The absolute BEST heatsink ever made the thermalright SLK-948U its much smaller than the Big TT its not as much pain to install. It dont take up half your case. However you do need to take off motherboard as this uses the " Bolt Thru" method. ive managed to overclock my x2 3800 1.8ghz to 2.7Ghz Dual prime95 stable. I could not do this before with my crappy cooler. Its way better than the XP-90 its a lil lighter than the XP-90C but the MOST important and vital key to its performance BOLT THRU helps make a much better contact with the CPU. No wonder the moderators at DFI street own like 4 or 5 of these. It works on Dothans X2s skt 478 and skt 939 940. Also you can use different fan sizes. Im using a Tornado with nexus fan controller. My temps hav dropped like 10c-12c i could only boot 2.6ghz and 2.7ghz briefly NOW i can boot 2.7Ghz easy and rock solid stable but also i can boot 2.8ghz - 2.85ghz all due to this kickass heatsink.

I prefer the new zalman just because its lighter and easier to install. Even though the BT cools better, you can create a windtunnel effect with the airflow.

The reason I like XP-90C is the fact that you can use your own 12MM fan on it. Is Big T really better than XP-90C?
Thanks!

As annoying as that is he's prolly right. my slk948u+92mm tornado@3krpm is holding my opty 148 running 280x10@1.5v at 30c idle and 40c load with 75F-ish room temps. I'd guess a tornado at this rpm is about 30db:shrug: (it doesnt seem much louder than my tt-6025a@25db thats cooling my memory anyway). as far as everything ive seen the Big T is a downgrade from this set up in every way except noise(even at 3k rpm im sure the tornado's louder lol). Not really a fair comparison since teh 948u's been discontinued but anyway.
