I've been running these Quadro FX 4500 heatsinks for about two weeks now and I would like to share what I have learned.

1. The stock fan used with these heatsinks is VERY underpowered. Quiet but at what a sacrifice...
2. With a little help (from some additional quiet fans) it is possible to achieve what I would consider VERY respectible temperatures. Right now I have a 92mm (~50cfm) fan rigged to the side of the cards so that it blows directly on the base of the cooler of both heatsinks. I have a Tweakmonster dual 80mm fan bracket on the way and about 80cfm in 80mm fans coming too.
3. Without help the cards idle at about 25C over ambient (this is with an OC to 540+60 delta) and 1.52V vgpu. Not good. Load temps soar past 75C and artifacting comes quickly.
4. With the help of some additional air movers (as explained in #2) idle temps drop below 40C and load temps don't make it into the 60C's. I've seen about 58C as the highest using RTHDRIBL. 3DMark05 can't even break 50C with this setup!
5. Remember, this is with an overclocked and overvolted card! I am going to push it a little harder and see where I can go. I have what I need to do a vgddr mod too. Now that the fans are cooling the memory chips I feel safe to push them a little harder. I think we will see a 16K+ AIRCOOLED SLI setup here soon. I am already at 15600 with just 1350Mhz on the GDDR3. Only way is up!

Very nice FCG! Good info of them, too bad they're not more readily available :(

Are there any other SLI air coolers? I'm running 7800GTX 512MB stock coolers and they arn't exciting enough, 60C loaded with 1.5V.

Nice cooling Them seem great for running SLI...
I think AC have some SLI compatible cooling...but i don't really know.

One card prepared ON AIR: 10259

I plan on topping 16K tomorrow ON AIR when I get the second card tweaked and back into an SLI setup.

Temps with QuadroFX heatsinks...keep in mind this is with *quite* a bit more than stock volts.
