first of all, heres my setup:
xp 2700+ with mcx 462+ and TT smartfan II on high
epox 8RDA+
2 x 256 mb xms 3500 c2
radeon 9500 Pro
WD 80 gb SE
Lite on DVD
Plextor burner
True Power 480

i am currently running stable at 11.5 x 202 sync (@ 1.85 vcore, stock vdimm). however, anything above 202 (no matter how low the mult, tried all voltages up to 1.9), and my pc refuses to even post. goes straight to the siren and i have to reset hitting insert or clear cmos. i have tried to isolate the ram or cpu by running async. when i set my fsb at around 180 and set the ram to 125% (230ish), the computer is perfectly stable. 1 point for ram. if i do the opposite and set the ram to 80% and the cpu to something above 202 (even 203) with the ram at around 166 and it wont post. 1 more point for ram.
so along comes the god send of the vdd mod. i say to myself "hey this is all i need." wrong. did the mod (currently at 1.8 vdd) but same symptoms still exist. i do have one concern. my psu seems to have low 12 V rail. it runs around 11.73 - 11.79. i have also added as3 and a 50mm fan to the NB. no help there. also, just hung a 40mm fan over the SB (it gets real hot to touch). ive also removed the fsb select jumper on the mobo so the cpu looks like a 133 (266) fsb cpu, as sugggested by some. what do you think the culprit is? the psu or the cpu? could it be the motherboard?

its the stock heatsink. i removed the thermal pad though and added as3. also added a 50mm fan.

ps, thanks for bump OPP

edit: im thinking about getting a new cooler for the NB, like the vantec iceberg, and then put the stock NB hsf on the SB.
