Guess you'll have to use Catalyst 5.13...
I only installed drivers...not ATI Control Center

However, BF2 won't start will Dual-Core (was running nice with Venice on same install...go figure)
i also get weird drive access and shortcuts..as well as brutal shudown...

Issue...i don't know....i'm new to dual-core...that i must improve

In ati tool it says my sapphire radeon is R430 core but has 16pipelines, what does that mean?

Also it doesn't see it as a gto2 it shows it as a x800xl series. I'm on omega 2.6.87

I now have a C3D X800 GTO. Lucky for me newegg had some referb ones for $150 and this one had a date of 11/12/05 and it flashed to 16 pipes. Runs stable with stock cooler at Core 550 mem 530.

Don't worry , nothing special here , just that the new gto² dual dvi have a new bios showing R430 with 16 pipeline allready activated., then you don't need to flash it anymore , just o/c the beast and play with.

I expected Pe speeds which i cant reach with this crappy core.. measured the VGPU -> gives 1,4 Volts if the card is idle at windows.. if i run atitool giving the card some load, the VGPU droppes to 1,37Volts..
Done VMod 4 GPU with 20k Poti to idle 1,43Volts --> then i can measure 1,40Volts under load.. now the core does 535 stable..
setting Pot to 1,5Volts idle leads to stable 563 Mhz Core.

Yep mine gto2 non vivo (early batch) did ~560 mhz on stock cooling, no vmods.Watercooled it did around 580mhz no vmods (24/7 stable no arti's) and with vmod it does 650 benchable (plain watercooled 1,65v).
Also my ram does around 645mhz without sinks and no vmods yet :banana:

I found that temps arent the issue.. regardless of core temps it stops working. i have 58° on air with silencer under load..if i set 545 Mhz it crashes @ 37° in a friction of a second.. volts matter, temperatures not if i keep it < 65° imho.

There is no artefacting, they stopping to respond -- black screen -- reboot..
tested two cards, both showed same behavior..hmm.. this days we have
-13° outside, should i place the case outside the window just to see if it matters.. :confused:

I got mine(x800 gto2-flashed) running 600/600 for 24/7 use and can hit 7030 on 3dmark2005(7280 with xs memory timings) but my 2001se score seem really low...i cant get over 30000 with my system...i have a opty 144 at 2.8ghz, 2 gigs memory running 201mhz 2-3-2-5...any ideas ive seen people hitting well over 30000 with the same specs. One more thing...when your computer recognizes your video card what does it show it as? mine says RADEON x800/x850 series...is that right? isnt it supposed to be just RADEON x850?

Another Sapphire board with a R430 here. ATITool got it up to 535/620 out of the box though. Can't possibly be R430.

They have my Dual DVI GTO2 in that review and the insanely high res photo of the board shows R480 and 1.6ns RAM (!!). Crazyness. No wonder ATITool was up to 620+ Mhz on RAM before I stopped it.

Nice scores, im debating digging out my gpu water block as the zalman dosent seem to be cutting it anymore, with 1.48v on gpu 600mhz it gets to around 70c, loaded for 15 minutes, and thats with 2 120mm fans blowing over the card one on full whack the other 7v.
Got round to doing the vddq mod and got the ram up to around 650 using 2.2v vdd and vddq.
What temps is everyone else getting with what volts and cooling?

Hmmm....thats a bit dodgy Pancake. With the stock cooler at full blast at 1.46v, I've never seen it go above 62*C....

I gave the card a clean out when i took it out to do the vddq mod, so its dust free, maybe ill try remounting it, i dont know if i can botherd messing around plumbing in a gpu block.

solved the temp probs by the looks of it, i forgot when i had the side of my case off for about a month i turned all the fans blowing in so no hot air was getting out, back to under 60c load now

Its no as high a overclock as the GTO2s out there but I just installed a ATI Silencer5 rev2 on my Connect 3D GTO that is flash to all 16 piples. It has a R423 and samsung -2.0 GDDR3 now at 570core and 545 mem with out volt mods. Its the best video card I have paid under $150 for.:)
Got this from Newegg referb line and I think there is one still there for $120 now.

The Connect 3D GTO for $120 is gone now but there are 2 GTO2 referb for $170 and $173.

With stock cooler 610Mhz@75C, now 650Mhz@58C all@1.55Vgpu.

Hmm, i modded a Connect3D X800GTO, and the relvant parts are the same i think, just the volatge-reading points are different to the GTO2/X850 layout.

well i finallyy had enough with the air cooling on the gto2 soi dug out my water block, bumped vgpu to 1.58 (droops to 1.56 load) and got up to 653 in ati tool before it froze my pc, did a quick 05 at 640/640 and got 75xx and about 500 extra in 01 , forgot to disable lan and bluetooth though so may of got another 1-200 pts.
temps are about 50c loaded now with the waterblock, thats with my 146 opty in the same loop which also reaches 50 fully loaded now, ran spi 4mb and ati tool on scan to get a good hammering for both and they both sat at 50c lol, think im gonna have to either upgrade to a tripple rad or use a seperate loop for gpu.
What max vgpu should i use going by current temps??

And i get load temps of 42 on CPU and 45 on my GPU (vGPU @ 1.6v). i'd recommend upgrading the pump and CPU waterblock maybe?

I think a goos triple radi external will give u much better temps, dunno if ur radi is already outside of ur case?

The Rad is outside the case, but is sucking air from inside the case. I think if i reverse the fans, i may get better temps. I get idle temps of 28*C on the GPU. As far as the CPU goes, i get idle temps of 34*C :rolleyes: Bad IHS contact for sure....

no im from the u.k, looking at the thermochill pa160, looks like a bit of a beast considering the size, a tripple is only slightly more expensive but twice as big and then some, and temps arent much diffrence.
I may just see if i can get a cheap pump off of egay aswell and use 2 seperate loops for gpu and cpu

Well, this thread has gotten kind of long. I remember contributing to it in the 18-30 page region.

However, I tend to have a strange problem. The card freezes. Very very rarely in games, mostly in source, a few times in other games.

The screen turns black, sometimes freeze+artifacts.

Is it core or mem?

Well, this is what my screen looked like once.
I was playing a game, and it froze and went black, so I alt+trl+del -ed
And the funny thing is that my PC was still working fine. The sounds were there, and I could blindly run programs.


I shut-down, and I could see that blu bar moving, (the win2k loading bar) as it was shtting down.

When I restarted, The red msg poppup up that the power cable was disconnected. But it wasn't. So I reconnected it.


And recently, It happend again. The screen went black, and floze and the last 1/3 of the second of sound looped.

i was not overcloked either of those times.

this happens quite rarely, and never in some games.

if i rma it, i would get the newer version, in which the pipes are locked

the temps are idle 30c, it seated perfectly (MaxxxRacer installed it :D )

not at all :P (even I had a bad card, artefacts (usually, except during 24cm fan-cooled :) ) starting @560 GPU :( )
