Hi guys,

I have a CrossFire system here with two Radeon X850 XTs and Halibut motherboard.

With FX-57 and High Quality settings the system scores around 10880. Everything running at default clocks.

I'll do some overclocking tomorrow with Vapochill LS cooled FX-57. Unfortunately I don't have time to play with an extreme cooling on graphics cards because of an upcoming product launch. Anyway, I'll post some overclocked numbers tomorrow if I can find a tool to overclock graphics cards in CrossFire mode..

Doubly extreme....you have CrossFire and you don't have time to play with it because of X1800XT :D

How's Halibut treatin' ya?

ATi Tray Tools would be fine for OCing the cards.

sampsa do you have any problems with the bios not reading correctly the vcore, we have one here (think is the same as you) but the bios seems buggy, do you have a new one?? or better one?

You can't even do that with a non crossfire setup...I can't think of any monitor ever made that could do 1600x1200@100hz. The only rez i know for sure that can do that is 1024x768..

You wanna get a decent monitor like mine, Eizo F930 21" CRT, I use it 1600 x 1200 104Hz, the best monitor I have ever had....

I'll check that, I haven't done any overclocking with the system yet. Just the basic benchmarks. Tomorrow I'll be doing some overclocking.

Doom3 runs fine @ 1600x1200 (4x AA / 16 x ANI) but Battlefield 2 is requires resoltion dropped to 1024x768 (4x / 16x ANI). High performance quality settings gives 11200 in 3DMark05 at default clocks.

Unfortunately the bottom line is that CrossFire is ~6 months too late and it has some problems like 60 hz limit. Also performance / price can't compete with single GeForce 7800 GTX.

R520 XT CrossFire is what I'm really waiting for :)

Sampsa
09-27-2005, 10:18 AM
The motherboard has amazing voltage adjustments, propably just like Grouper. Vmem up to 4,0 etc. I hope we'll see this reference design from DFI! (BT?)

PS. Southbridge SB450 has some serious problems with Seagate Barracuda SATA V which has a native SATA support. For some reason southbridge forces it to PIO-mode and doesn't work in UltraDMA-6 mode. I'm using Silicon Images SATA controller instead.

7 days 20hours and counting...

I'd keep counting

Well you get Crossfire support by default just by having a GPU from R300 onwards, PCI Express interconnect and a DVI port. Those are the only requirements for a slave board to say "Crossfire support" on the box.

Master boards are the different kettle of fish and caboosemoose is right, there'll be no R5-series Crossfire at launch. -Rys

maybe not look at this:

If you want more than 60hz you'll have to buy 2 new cards, because the old ones can work only at 60hz, how convinient from ati (instead of buying just the cf edition now you have to buy 2 new cards from new gen)

I was busy today but still managed to run few quick tests.

High performance from drivers, FX-57 running @ 3,3 GHz and graphics cards running GPU: 585 MHz and Memory: 595 MHz scored 12500 in 3DMark05. I'll do few more test runs tomorrow and try to hit 13k.

that is probably part of the confidentiality agreement for them(or i would be guessing it would be and security would be tight)

Sampsa, before you go partying to Ibiza, have you had any problems with the vCore reading? Our motherboard, as metro.cl told you, will always tell you are at 1.75vCore, although we haven't set it up that high, and it's definitely not at that voltage (just by touching the heatsink I can know it).

If not, would you mind telling me where is the point of measurement for CPU voltage?

Thanks again. You helped me before with the G70 at time of launch.

Good luck in Ibiza, wonderful women over there :D We weren't invited, hope they make a party in Brasil for the Latin America press :toast: , and my R520 hasn't left Canada. Things get so late here, we where at R360 launch yesterday :stick:

I know you're working with a FX so HTT limit is not an issue since you can just bump up the multi, but for those of us who only have a max of a 9 multi to give (A.K.A. cheap bastards) please let us know if you can get the HTT over the 318 reported at Anand. Really need at least >334+ if we're going to make the Opteron 939 144s fly. A simple screenie would be greatly appreciated.

FX-57 running at 3,35 GHz, with more time / tweaking I could have had it propably to run higher. This CPU can do 3,45 GHz with Vapochill LS on DFI nF4 SLI-DR. Graphics cards running GPU: 580 MHz and memory: 595 MHz.

Didn't reach 13k with air cooling on cards. In 3DMark05 race Radon X850 XT CrossFire is better than GeForce 6800 Ultra, but that's already the past.. now I'm looking ahead..

Over and out.

Just like the DFI NF4-SLI mobo before it'll ship late. As long as its great I guess its worth the wait.

I'm sure a lot of XS members are looking forward to your reports on the DFI LanParty UT RDX200-CF-DR. DFI has a long streak of successful mobos. I hope it continues.

I know they are staying away from the +5v jumper concept, but with all the Winbond chips out there I hope they have atleast too 3.8-4Vdimm.
